Prince William

Prince William County detectives have charged two men in the shooting death of a 42-year-old Bowling Green man. The fatal altercation happened on May 12 in the 1200 block of Potomac Vista Drive in Woodbridge.

Detectives say the incident stemmed from a narcotics transaction involving people known to the victim. Taiyon Damari Jackson, 20, of Alexandria, and William Latrale Lisenby, 23, of Lorton, face murder charges along with related firearm offenses. Both men were arrested last week and are being held without bond.


Schools

Stafford County supervisors will meet Tuesday, May 26 at 5 p.m. at the County Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, to discuss implementing a formal revenue sharing agreement with Stafford County Public Schools.

Quantico

Quantico residents lost power Thursday evening, May 21, after an osprey nested on an electric pole. The outage hit the entire small Prince William County town around 10 p.m.

Dominion Energy crews responded quickly and restored service. The company identified the osprey on a pole along C Street as the cause. Town officials thanked Steve and Roger from Dominion Virginia Power for their fast work and clear explanation.


Features

Several local swimming pools remained closed this weekend as rain and cool temperatures washed out the start of the summer season. Prince William County announced Saturday evening that all outdoor pools and water parks would remain closed on Sunday, May 24, due to inclement weather.

In Manassas Park, officials canceled the Soft Opening for Signal Bay Waterpark on Friday night and kept the facility closed on Sunday because temperatures stayed below 70 degrees with ongoing rain. The city expressed disappointment after months of preparation and encouraged residents to sign up for text alerts for future updates.


Schools

Stafford County Public Schools and Stafford County Fire and Rescue partner on the High School Fire Academy, a hands-on program that gives local high school students real-world training in firefighting and emergency medical response. The program allows students to earn high school credit while learning skills that can lead to careers in public safety.

Class sizes appear to vary. Recent sessions have included around 20-25 students. The latest, High School Fire Academy 7, graduated in spring 2026. The program has grown since its start, with earlier classes having smaller groups.


Stafford

Stafford County firefighters responded quickly to a house fire early Sunday morning in the 200 block of Choptank Road near A.G. Wright Middle School.

Crews arrived just over five minutes after the call came in, before 5:30 a.m., and found fire coming from the side of a two-story single-family home.


Manassas

The Prince William Committee of 100 will hold its annual membership meeting and dinner on Thursday, May 28, at Juke Box Diner in Manassas. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and includes dinner, networking, and a program highlighting local parks, recreation opportunities, and summer community events.

The gathering brings together members, community leaders, and friends to celebrate connections across Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park. Dinner tickets cost $35 for PWC100 members and $40 for non-members. Guests can choose from classic diner options such as meatloaf with mashed potatoes, fish and chips, chicken souvlaki, or gyros, with soft drinks, dessert, and sides included.


Prince William

Woodbridge District Supervisor Jeannie LaCroix said that while she understands the historical significance of the Old Bennett School, practical realities and the need for courthouse expansion make full preservation difficult for taxpayers.

LaCroix, a former court reporter who walked past the 1908 building hundreds of times, shared her perspective during a May 22, 2026, appearance on the Potomac Local Podcast.
