Prince William County police said a 29-year-old man was found dead Sunday morning in a field off Burwell Road in Nokesville. Spotsylvania deputies said Yousaf Chaudhry, 18, of Spotsylvania, died Friday night after a Corvette left Smith Station Road and hit trees. The Monday reports also list a residential burglary in Nokesville, an attempted burglary in Woodbridge, three DUI arrests in Stafford, and a planned sobriety checkpoint near Manassas tonight.
On Oct. 4 at 9:38 a.m., officers responded to the 10400 block of Burwell Road in Nokesville (20181) for a report of an unconscious individual, the Monday daily incident report said. The investigation revealed the individual, a 29-year-old man, was located in a nearby field with an apparent self-inflicted injury. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Preliminarily, there were no signs of foul play. Police said more information will be released if deemed necessary. The report did not name the man.
Dumfries Town Council will take up conditional use permits Tuesday for a 50,325-square-foot grocery, a drive-thru pharmacy, and 6,700 square feet of other retail at 17439 and 17471 Old Stage Coach Road, InsideNoVa reports.
The rezoning already passed 7-0 on Sept. 15. Potomac Local reported that vote. The permits were not voted that night. Chair Pro Tem Selonia Miles moved to adjourn after the rezoning, and only Mayor Derrick Wood dissented.
Naresh Bhatt pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree murder, concealment of a dead body, and physical defilement of a dead body, InsideNoVa reports.
No body has been found. Mamta Kafle Bhatt, a Manassas Park nurse and mother, was last heard from on July 29, 2024. She is presumed dead.

Tom Perriello is challenging John McGuire in the 5th, Charlottesville and Lynchburg, which Crystal Ball moved from likely Republican to leaning Republican.
The Spotsylvania Animal Shelter is holding a goat found on Massey Road, and it wants the owner to call.
He has the beard, the swept horns, and the look of a buck who left the yard. The shelter called him “he.” It did not name a breed. The photos show a tan coat, a darker face, and a black beard. It is a goat.
The Prince William Committee of 100 and the League of Women Voters of the Prince William and Fauquier Area will hold the forum Thursday, Oct. 15, the committee said. Doors open at 6 p.m. The forum runs 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Manassas Community Center, 8750 Sudley Road. The flyer names Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, the Democrat from Ashburn, and Dave Beckwith, the Republican from Sterling. Bruce Potter, publisher of InsideNoVa, is the moderator. The event is free, open to the public, and does not require registration. Seating is limited.
City staff is recommending the council approve a rezoning at 9007 Center St., InsideNoVa reports. The plan is 162 apartments and a five-story, 536-space garage on the former Manassas Ice & Fuel site. The city bought the land in 2025. A hotel on the old Olde Towne Inn property is not part of this vote. Potomac Local already covered the Planning Commission recommendation.
Mathis Avenue in Manassas Park is shut down between Conner Drive and Hardees Drive after a hit-and-run crash struck a telephone pole, a Manassas Park Police alert said.
The department said crews expect the road to stay closed about 12 hours while the pole is repaired. The alert did not name a driver, a vehicle, or injuries, and it did not give a crash time.
