Police Blotter: Brandishing Arrests, Burglaries Hit Dumfries and Woodbridge

Prince William County police reported a brandishing arrest in Woodbridge, burglaries and an attempted burglary in Dumfries, and a juvenile charged with brandishing near Manassas. Stafford County deputies arrested two men on DUI charges and one on petit larceny and public intoxication.

On September 9, officers responded to a residence in the 17200 block of Larkin Ct in Dumfries for a burglary. Between September 7 at 9 p.m. and September 8 at 9 p.m., a basement window was shattered and entry made. Jewelry was reported missing. No suspect information was available.

Chelsea Quintern and son Joshua return to Prince William Board for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Updated Sept. 10, 2026: Chelsea Quintern wrote Potomac Local on Thursday evening to correct two name spellings, note that her daughter Rylee was also at the meeting, and report that Joshua’s post-meeting scan showed no evidence of disease.

Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega’s chief of staff, Chelsea Quintern, returned to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors dais on Sept. 1 with her son Joshua beside her as the Board marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Their daughter, Rylee, was also present. Quintern later said Rylee has not had cancer but “experienced a major change in her life because of childhood cancer, too.”

Board marks Recovery, Preparedness, and other September awareness dates

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors marked a slate of September awareness dates at its Sept. 1 meeting, highlighting recovery, preparedness, voting access, kinship care and forensic work ahead of events later this month.

Recovery Month centers on the third annual Recovery is Real gathering Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the AJ Ferlazzo Building. The free-lunch event carries the theme “Recovery is Real, Restoring Every Aspect of Life.” Community Services Behavioral Health Program Manager Tanya invited the public to attend.

SEMPER DRY: Quantico boil order after base main break nearly empties tank — and the Marines aren’t talking

Water pressure in the Town of Quantico was restored at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mayor Kevin Brown said in an email Tuesday night. The boil-water advisory is still in effect.

Brown said Inboden Environmental, the town’s contract environmental support, will collect the first of two samples Wednesday morning and the second Thursday morning. If both come back clean, the town hopes to lift the advisory by noon Friday.

Police Blotter: Triple-Fatal Crash, Shootings Reported

Prince William County police reported a death investigation at Potomac Festival in Woodbridge, several shots-fired calls, an abduction case with a wanted suspect, a malicious wounding arrest and an attempted robbery at a Salvation Army.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported five DUI arrests, a drug charge tied to one of those stops, an assault at a Wawa, a cigarette theft and other cases.

PWCS posts 92.7% first-week bus on-time rate to open 2026-27 year

Prince William County Schools opened the 2026-27 year with a 92.7% first-week bus on-time arrival rate, Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade told the School Board on Wednesday — one of the first times in five or six years the division has hit that mark for the opening week, she said.
