Stafford County supervisors failed early Wednesday to adopt a Business, Professional and Occupational License tax after a marathon public hearing that stretched past midnight.
Chairman Deuntay T. Diggs announced that the motion to approve Proposed Ordinance O26-34 as advertised “failed.” The meeting, which began at 5 p.m. Tuesday, adjourned at 12:59 a.m.

According to FOX 5 DC, Loudoun County’s Board of Supervisors on Tuesday advanced a proposed 12-month pause on new data center applications. The county attorney said an indefinite moratorium would not be legal, and the temporary halt would apply only to new filings. The resolution still needs a final vote; supervisors expect to take the item up again Oct. 13.
Canadian high pressure still covers the Baltimore-Washington region, but it has edged closer to the coast. That opens the door to a warmer day than early in the week.

Crews will demolish a portion of the southbound I-95 bridge over Occoquan Road as part of the I-95 and Route 123 interchange improvements project in Woodbridge.
Prince William County police announced an additional arrest in a June homicide near Manassas, charging a 16-year-old with second-degree murder and a related firearm offense. In Woodbridge, officers arrested a 32-year-old woman after she allegedly brandished a firearm and fired a shot that struck a vehicle during an early-morning altercation. A separate shots-fired call later the same day left a vehicle damaged but no injuries. Stafford County deputies reported a DUI arrest involving narcotics, a shoplifting case and several fraud complaints from Sept. 14.
The murder investigation continues and does not appear to be random. The Woodbridge firearm cases remain under investigation where suspects are not yet identified.
