Nearly 3,800 Manassas residents and businesses lost power Sunday night, the third major outage in just over a week to darken parts of the city and renew questions about grid reliability.

As of 9:50 p.m., the city reported 3,731 customers without power, concentrated in downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Streets affected include Main, Center, Church, Battle, Grant, and Prince William Streets — covering much of the city’s historic core. Power was also out along portions of Wellington Road, Euclid Avenue, and Mathis Avenue.

City of Fredericksburg Government (Facebook) – On Sunday evening (tonight), a Public Works contractor will paint double yellow lines down the center of Prince Edward Street between Amelia and Canal Streets.

The new markings will help guide drivers, separate opposing traffic, and support recommendations from the recent Downtown Traffic Study.

The team behind the proposed Buc-ee’s Travel Center in Stafford County will meet face-to-face with residents tomorrow to discuss the project and answer questions.

A community information session is scheduled for Monday, October 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Forge High School, 550 Courthouse Road. Representatives from the Buc-ee’s development team will share details about the project planned for Austin Ridge Drive at the northwest corner of Interstate 95 and Courthouse Road, and will hear concerns from nearby residents.

Prince William

Haymarket Day kicks off today with a record 321 vendors, a retro-themed parade, and tax-free dining for the weekend.

The town’s 4% meals tax is waived through Sunday, October 19, allowing visitors to enjoy prepared food from local restaurants tax-free. Town officials say the tradition helps support restaurants during their busiest weekend of the year.
