The owner of Shining Sol Candle Company says he plans to close the company’s Old Town Manassas storefront later this month, ending a nearly 10-year run on Center Street while keeping the business alive online and at its Myrtle Beach location.

Potomac Local News reached more readers in 2025, as audiences across Northern Virginia and the Fredericksburg region turned to local journalism for breaking news, accountability reporting, and stories that directly impact their communities.
Over the past year, readers viewed more than 1.6 million pages on PotomacLocal.com, with nearly 1.3 million unique devices accessing the site. About two-thirds of readers accessed the site on mobile, and more than 42% completed the articles they started, a strong sign of engagement with local reporting.

The action authorizes VRE to seek approval from its governing commissions to execute a Capital Project Funding Addendum with the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority, thereby enabling the project to proceed to planning, environmental review, and design.
The Woodbridge project is part of VRE’s broader effort to prepare stations and infrastructure for longer trains and future rail capacity improvements. Approval of the funding addendum is required for VRE to access state-supplied matching funds under an existing master agreement with VPRA.

Prince William County officials reviewed the results of a yearlong workforce development study on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, outlining how the county could take a more active role in connecting workers, employers, and training providers without duplicating existing services.
