MANASSAS, Va. – The City of Manassas is moving ahead with the next phase of its $16 million purchase of the Manassas Shopping Center, and residents are invited to help shape what comes next.

City officials will present details about the property at 9018 Mathis Avenue and ask residents for their ideas on its future. Both meetings will cover the same information, giving people the flexibility to attend the date that works best for them.


Fredericksburg

STAFFORD, Va. – Stafford County Fire and Rescue says all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were shut down around 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the area of mile marker 132.9/133, just north of the Rappahannock River bridge, following a traffic crash. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

About 15 minutes later, the Virginia Department of Transportation clarified that the closure affected the local lanes of I-95 northbound. In a social media post just before 9 p.m., VDOT said the entrance ramps to I-95 northbound from Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg were closed due to the crash near mile marker 132.


Fredericksburg

According to FXBGo!, the adjustments come after extensive community feedback gathered through its Transit Strategic Plan. The updated routes aim to streamline service, reduce travel times, and better connect riders to key destinations throughout Spotsylvania County.

As part of the update, FXBGo! will retire letter-based route names, switching to a number-only naming system designed to make navigating the system easier for riders. New maps and updated schedules reflecting the changes will be available at Central Station and online at rideFXBGO.com.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Prince William County is mourning the loss of one of its most respected business leaders. Demetrios “Dimitri” Boosalis, founder of Boosalis Properties and a lifelong supporter of local businesses, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025.

Dimitri’s life was a true American success story. Born in the village of Niata, Greece, he arrived in the U.S. with just $20, no English, and a sixth-grade education. From those humble beginnings, he built Boosalis Properties into one of the largest independent commercial real estate companies in Woodbridge. The company owns and manages several landmark properties, including The Woodbridge Shopping Center and Station Plaza Shopping Center, both home to dozens of long-standing local businesses—many of which have remained tenants for more than 40 years.


Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Mary Washington Hospital has installed a new antenna system to help first responders communicate more clearly when responding to emergencies inside the hospital.

According to a press release from Mary Washington Healthcare, the hospital’s new Distributed Antenna System (DAS) cost $268,000 and is designed to boost radio signals throughout the hospital, improving communication in areas where coverage is typically poor. Hospitals, with their thick walls and complex layouts, are some of the toughest places for emergency radios to work correctly.


Obituaries

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Timothy B. Noone at the age of 67. Tim was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 21, 1957 and died at FryeCare Regional Hospital on May 11, 2025. He was diagnosed with a rare type of ANCA Vasculitis in 2020 which mainly impacted his lungs. He battled through multiple bouts of pneumonia, strokes, melanoma, brain cancer, and finally succumbed to the disease. He worked very hard to overcome each of these challenges, and was quite vital until just a few days prior to his death. Tim was a resident of Maiden, N.C., where he and Colleen settled in 2023.

The son of John Patrick and Olive Dorothy Noone, who predeceased him, he is survived by his wife and soulmate of 46 years, Colleen Callahan Noone, and their children Michele (Walt) Treaster, Justin (Cassy) Noone, Joshua (Audra) Noone, grandchildren Heather and Colin Treaster, Madison, MaKenzie, Sutton, Liam, and Adeline Noone. He is also survived by his devoted brother Kevin (Sandi), nephews Sean (Carrie) Noone and Shiloh (Hannah) Noone, and his best friend of 49 years, Stan (Kathy) Fudala. Multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews loved him dearly and share our grief.


Prince William

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The Prince William County Police Department has announced the completion of the criminal investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting that happened on December 5, 2024, outside Fire & Rescue Station 26 on Davis Ford Road in Woodbridge.

According to a press release from the department, the investigation was conducted by the Northern Virginia regional Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), which is made up of investigators from multiple area agencies. Their findings were presented to Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, who concluded that no criminal charges will be filed against the officer involved.


Weather

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of Northern Virginia, in effect until 10 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025.

Areas included in the watch are Prince William, Stafford, Fairfax, Fauquier, Culpeper, Loudoun, Frederick, and surrounding counties, along with the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, and Winchester, according to the National Weather Service.


Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. – Hundreds of community members, business leaders, and state officials packed into the Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre today to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting for Success Space, a new co-working hub offering workspace, business coaching, and a café.

Dr. Fallon Hutcherson and Felicia Minor-Caliste, co-owners of Virginia’s first Success Space, thanked the crowd for their two-and-a-half years of support that helped bring their vision to life. “Even with us, we didn’t do it alone,” they told attendees, acknowledging family, friends, and community members who stood by them throughout the process.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. – A new 28,000-square-foot event venue in Manassas is preparing to open its doors to the community this weekend.

Magnoliya Grand, located at 6991 Infantry Ridge Road near the Northern Virginia Community College Manassas Campus, will hold its Grand Opening and Open House on Sunday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include an opening ceremony at 11 a.m., live performances from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and an open house from 1 to 4 p.m., according to the venue’s announcement.
