Carl Street of Youth For Tomorrow Tapped for State Council on Children’s Services

BRISTOW, Va. – Carl R. Street, Jr., Vice President for Behavioral Health Services at Youth For Tomorrow, has been appointed to the State Executive Council for Children’s Services by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.

Street, a licensed counselor with decades of experience in substance abuse and mental health services, oversees seven regional behavioral health offices in Prince William, Fairfax, Fauquier, and Loudoun counties. He began his current role at Youth For Tomorrow (YFT) in 2020, following his promotion from Director of Behavioral Health Services, a role he assumed in 2015. Prior to that, he spent 15 years with YFT in residential care roles ranging from counselor to director.

Help Design the Logo for Manassas’ 40th Anniversary—Submissions Now Open

MANASSAS, Va. – Historic Manassas, Inc. is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a community logo contest—and they’re inviting local residents to help shape the celebration.

Residents of the City of Manassas and Prince William County are eligible to submit original logo designs that reflect the spirit and history of downtown Manassas. The winning design will be featured throughout the anniversary year. The contest runs now through July 31, 2025.

Stay Cool —Heat Index Could Hit 107 Today

A heat advisory is in effect across the region today, with heat index values expected to climb as high as 107 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory runs from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and covers much of northern and central Virginia, including Prince William County, Manassas, Manassas Park, Stafford County, and the City of Fredericksburg. It also includes the D.C. area and parts of southern Maryland.

Expect Overnight Lane Closures This Week in Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Drivers in the Fredericksburg region should prepare for overnight lane closures this week as road crews carry out maintenance and construction along major corridors in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties and the City of Fredericksburg.

On I-95, paving and bridge inspections will cause single or alternating lane closures overnight between Exit 118 (Thornburg) and Exit 148 (Quantico). Route 1 and Route 3 in both counties will see daytime and nighttime closures for pavement marking, utility work, and intersection improvements. Fredericksburg’s Route 1 at Fall Hill Avenue and Princess Anne Street will continue to experience intermittent lane closures as part of long-term construction projects.

The waterpark will open its gates from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., marking the first time this summer that families can enjoy the popular destination in Manassas Park. The celebration comes after an extensive renovation project that began earlier this year and included the full replacement of the park’s central play structure, new spray features, and other safety upgrades.

Police Blotter: 2-Year-Old Was Found Alone in Woodbridge—Police Are Looking for His Mother

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Police are searching for a woman accused of leaving her 2-year-old son unattended outside a home on Dawson Beach Road. Officers responded to the home around 9:17 p.m. on July 23 after a child was found alone and in poor condition. Authorities say the boy’s mother, 37-year-old Alexandra Anna Granruth, had arranged for someone to look after the child earlier that afternoon but never returned.

When police tried to contact Granruth, she allegedly refused to come back. The child was not injured and was released to known parties. Warrants have been issued for Granruth, who is now wanted for felony child neglect.

MANASSAS, Va. – A heat advisory is in effect across Northern Virginia and the D.C. region today, with the National Weather Service warning that it could feel as hot as 109 degrees outside.

The advisory covers Prince William County, Manassas, Manassas Park, Stafford, Fredericksburg, and surrounding areas and will remain in place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025. Forecasters say actual temperatures will climb into the upper 90s, with high humidity pushing heat index values into dangerous territory.

Father Charged with Felony Homicide in Death of 4-Month-Old Son in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – A 22-year-old man has been charged with felony homicide following the death of his 4-month-old son, authorities announced Wednesday.

Prince William County police say Gianni Romero-Coreas, of the 14300 block of Jeffries Road in Woodbridge, just off  Route 1, was arrested July 24 by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Manassas. He is being held without bond.
