A 43-year-old pedestrian died this morning after he was struck on Route 1.
At 3:04 a.m., police went to the area of Route 1 and Cardinal Dr in Woodbridge to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. They found the driver of a 2011 Infinity G37X was traveling north on Route 1 toward Cardinal Drive struck a pedestrian in a lane, outside a crosswalk, in a dimly lit area of the street, police said.
A good Samaritan fired shots at an oncoming car that eventually hit a woman, and his son, following a melee at a Woodbridge commuter lot.
On Saturday, February 27 at 7:25 p.m., officers were called to report pedestrians struck at the Horner Road commuter lot, 13455 Telegraph Road in Woodbridge.

An employee of the restaurant reported to police that after dining at the establishment, a group of teenaged males fled on foot to the parking lot without paying.
[Updated 1:15 p.m ] Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin recognized two fire departments in our region that went above and beyond to help someone in need.
On Wednesday, February 23, Youngkin announced the 2021 Governor’s Fire Service Awards as part of the annual Virginia Fire Chiefs Association and Rescue Conference in Virginia Beach.

The crash took the life of John Avnevine, 82, of Beltsville, Md., who was driving a 2009 Lincoln Town Car near Hendrick Honda on Route 1 in Woodbridge.
An investigation revealed that the driver of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra failed to stop before entering the roadway from a business parking lot. After exiting the parking lot, the driver also failed to proceed to the closest available lane and crossed paths in front of another driver, said police.
Eight years later, police in Prince William County are still searching for a killer who shot a woman in cold blood in a grocery store and left empty-handed.
Glenda Marisol Coca-Romero, 21, was killed on February 21, 2014, at the former Platanillos Grocery and Jewelry store at 14342 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge.
The Prince William County 2022 Polar Plunge will take place in person today in Woodbridge.
The event will be held at Leesylvania State Park, 2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Drive.
