VDOT: Roundabout construction at Lee Hill School Dr and Old Dominion Pkwy

Construction will be begin on a roundabout at Lee Hill School Dr and Old Dominion Parkway

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and its contractor will begin building an intersection improvement project at Lee Hill School Drive and Old Dominion Parkway in Spotsylvania County on Monday, April 29. The intersection is just over a mile from Lee’s Hill Golf Club.

VDOT: Nighttime lane closures on I-95 in Prince William County

Beginning Sunday night, April 28, weather permitting, a portion of the northbound and southbound I-95 general purpose lanes in Prince William County will have nighttime single- and double-lane closures until late fall for roadway joint repairs and paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times.

Balls Ford Road widening project completed

The project to widen Balls Ford Road between Doane Drive and Ashton Avenue to a four-lane, divided roadway is now officially complete. The county’s Department of Transportation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the parking lot of the General Shale Brick Company last week.

I-95 Northbound paving requires overnight detour

Paving work will close the Interstate 95 northbound local lanes overnight north of exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) in Stafford County from 11 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 – early Friday, April 26.

Brush fire causes 4-mile backup on I-95 at Quantico

Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of a brush fire on Interstate 95 near Quantico.

As you can see from the photos above, taken from VDOT cameras, smoke is billowing from the forested areas on the southbound side of the highway, near milepost 148, Quantico Marine Corps Base’s back gate.

Sinkhole forms on Route 610; Traffic delays expected

A sinkhole formed on Route 610 Road in North Stafford.

VDOT crews are on the scene to repair the hole in the center of the westbound portion of the street at Novak Drive. Garrisonville is reduced to a single westbound and eastbound lane near Novak Drive to allow crews to investigate the cause of the sinkhole and make repairs.
