On January 7th at 11:22 a.m. deputies responded to Pine View Drive for a report of a brandishing. The investigation revealed three utility workers were clearing downed trees from the power lines.

A resident was also in the wood line with the workers, at the intersection of two property lines. A neighbor, identified as Mohammed Sultany, 40, approached them with a handgun. Sultany brandished the handgun at all four men and threatened to shoot anyone who came on his property.

The Stafford sheriff’s office reports:

About 10 airmen arrived at the county’s public safety center at 1225 Courthouse Road. According to a county spokesman, the airmen will spend the day with sheriff’s deputies using chainsaws to remove damaged trees from streets.

County leaders also requested Army National Guard troops to help with storm relief efforts. According to the spokesman, the county is awaiting word from the state government on getting the additional forces.

Data center public meetings: Prince William County’s planning office will host two in-person, community meetings later this month on proposals to replan about 2,000 acres near the Manassas Battlefield National Park for data centers and to expand the county’s existing “data center overlay district” to make more room for the giant buildings around the county. [Updated 12:45 p.m] More snow is on the way for Prince William and Stafford counties.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for both jurisdictions and the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, January 6 to 5 a.m. Friday, January 7.
