The sheriff’s office obtained an arrest warrant was obtained for a suspect in an attempted child abduction that occurred during the afternoon on Friday, January 28. The SWAT Team surrounded William’s home on Owens Street, in the Eastern View subdivision near North Stafford High School, about 9 p.m. Friday, January 28.

The suspect barricaded himself in the house, according to authorities. The sheriff’s office sent a drone into the home to search while the SWAT Team used a robot to open doors and search for the suspect. A crisis negotiation team attempted to speak with the suspect, but he refused, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

On January 25 at 2:15 p.m. Sgt. Assur and Deputy Phillips responded to the Bank of America at 1525 Stafford Market Place for a suspicious person. Employees of the bank were aware of a female using a fictitious name at other Bank of America branches.

They recognized the name when the female attempted to withdraw funds, according to police.

Indecent Exposure | Sexual Assault – On January 19 at 4:10PM, officers responded to Ollie’s located at 8351 Sudley Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 23-year-old woman, reported to police that she was inside the business when an unknown man, later identified as the accused, touched her inappropriately as he walked by her.

The victim continued shopping and observed the accused follow her throughout the store. A short time later, the victim observed the accused exposing himself and making inappropriate gestures towards her and her 1-year-old daughter.

Maquan Omari McCray, 28, is charged with murder and iht use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, police said. McCray turned himself in at the county jail, they added.

Smoot and a family member, whom police said once had a relationship with McCray, went to meet him at an apartment in the 8100 block of Cobden Court, near a Costco warehouse outside Manassas, and was shot to death about 10 a.m. Monday, January 17.

Police released the photo of the man wanted connected to the shooting death of 37-year-old Mary Anne Smoot.

After being shot multiple times during an argument with a man with whom her friend once had a relationship, police said, Smoot died in a Manassas-area apartment Monday, January 17.

A robber used a hammer to strike a 17-year-old girl, an employee of a dollar store near Manassas.

On Tuesday, January 13, at 12:38 p.m., police went to the Dollar and Gift store at 7630 Streamwalk Lane, near Interstate 66 and Sudley Road, to investigate a robbery. They learned a man entered the store and approached the counter where the two employees, a 17-year-old girl, and a 25-year-old woman, stood.

The investigation revealed that the accused stole the ambulance from the Kaiser Permanente Woodbridge Medical Center located on Potomac Mills Road, across the Potomac Mills mall, and traveled westbound on Minnieville Road. He collided with a BMW 325i.

The accused was transported to an area hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries before being released to police custody. While investigating, officers determined the suspect was intoxicated and driving on a revoked license.
