At 4:02 a.m. today, police officers at the Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center located at 2300 Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge were notified that a woman was being treated at the facility for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, reported to police that she and an acquaintance were driving in the Dumfries area when gunshots were fired.

[Updated 3 p.m.] Human remains found in Stafford County 32 years ago belong to Timothy Mangum of Norfolk.

A man clearing underbrush from a field near the Mountian View and Joshua roads found Mangum’s skull near a fence on September 28, 1990, and called police.

This morning, five Virginia State Police troopers were injured in a vehicle pursuit that ended in Woodbridge.

Shortly before 5 a.m., Fairfax County Police alerted Virginia State Police to a 2012 Ford Fiesta – reported stolen from New York, was traveling south on Interstate 495 across the American Legion Bridge.

[Updated 10 a.m.] A Burke man is facing charges after an overnight barricade in Stafford County.

A man went into a home in the Garrison Woods Apartments off Onville Road in North Stafford about 11 p.m. Sunday, February 13. The man assaulted a woman, her daughter, and a dog, said a sheriff’s office spokesman.

According to police, a 14-year-old boy suffered a mental health crisis on school grounds on Friday, February 4. During the encounter, school staff, including a teacher, temporarily restrained the student in an attempt to keep him from harming himself or others, police said,

After being released, the teacher, identified as the accused, spat on the student before the parties separated. The incident reportedly took place in a classroom during school hours, police said.

They were looking for a suspect wanted in Stafford County for attempted malicious wounding and conspiracy. First Sergeant D.F. Purcell, Jr. observed a suspect leave the hotel and travel south on Route 1. With an arrest team in place, deputies stopped the suspect in front of the courthouse.

The suspect was removed from the vehicle and arrested. Deputy F.A. Martinez also went to the scene with K-9 Mija, and the dog found Pringles chips can that had been hot glued, containing an array of suspected controlled substances, a Stafford sheriff’s spokesman said.

A teenager thought to have been shot actually suffered a pistol-whipping in Woodbridge.

Just after 7 p.m. Monday, February 7, a 17-year-old was taken to a local hospital after someone struck the teen with a gun. The blow caused the teen to lose consciousness, leading police to think he had been shot.
