Manassas City Police say officers responded Friday night to reports of gunshots near Church Street and Main Street in Old Town.
Police said no one was injured. Investigators recovered cartridge casings in front of Bull Run Unitarian Church, where a private gathering of about 150 to 200 people had been taking place. One parked vehicle was damaged.
Prince William County police arrested a man after a sexual assault near Manassas in which the suspect produced a knife and strangled the victim. Spotsylvania County deputies arrested two teens after a reported shooting on Rustic View Lane. Stafford County reported a DUI, fraud, and vandalism cases.
On October 20, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office responded to the 11700 block of Rustic View Lane for a reported shooting. A caller reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing several individuals running from the area.
VDOT listed scheduled lane closures for road work in the Fredericksburg District for Oct. 25–31, weather permitting, the agency said.
On I-95, mobile single lane closures to clean and wash bridges run Monday–Friday, 7 p.m.–6 a.m., between Exit 104 (Carmel Church) and Exit 148 (Quantico) in Caroline, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties. Other I-95 work includes pavement markers and rumble strips near Exit 143, soil sampling between Exit 126 and Exit 133, and paving with ramp closures at Exit 126 in Spotsylvania.

Marine Corps Base Quantico’s Fire and Emergency Services visited Child Development Center North on Oct. 21 as part of an annual public education campaign, teaching children and staff how to look for and prevent fire hazards with live demonstrations and classes, according to photos the Marine Corps posted to DVIDS.

Prince William County Circuit Court Chief Judge Petula Metzler granted $2,500 bond Monday to Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano, the Stafford man accused of using a sledgehammer to damage the Iwo Jima statue near Quantico, 7News reported.
An ICE detainer was lodged against him. A detective testified he showed signs of mental health issues and claimed a rapper told him to desecrate the statue. Prosecutors said he targeted the monument because he had applied to the Marines but was denied because he is in the country illegally.
Members of the city’s Economic Development Authority spent part of their Oct. 5 retreat discussing whether the authority should build its own social-media presence and run short influencer campaigns aimed at people who might live or work in the city, not only visitors. No vote was taken and no contract was awarded.
Secretary Eugeniy Mikityuk and board member David Fraser led the discussion under the retreat’s second theme: marketing, tourism, and public perception. Mikityuk proposed a standalone EDA social presence focused on working and living in Fredericksburg, the authority’s loan program, employers, and entrepreneurs. He said it would not copy the work already done by Visit Fredericksburg or Fredericksburg Main Street.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 20 denied a rezoning and conditional use permit for a Sheetz convenience store and fuel station at the Enon Road and Route 1 intersection.
The proposal sought to rezone about 3.88 acres from A-1 Agricultural and B-1 Commercial to B-2 Urban Commercial on parcels 45-283, 45-284 and 46-17A. It also requested a conditional use permit for a convenience store with a drive-thru and fuel sales.
On Oct. 15, the IKEA store in Woodbridge filled with teenagers. They were not shopping. They played board games, listened to live music and went back for seconds on meatballs.
The free event was put on by Communities for Youth, a local youth-led group that hosts gatherings so students have a place to meet outside school and work. Founder Owen Meyer counted about 100 students.
