The COG provides air quality forecasts and educates the public about actions that can be taken to reduce pollution and health risks in the metropolitan Washington area.

”Smoke coming from wildfires in Canada will contribute to the increased levels of fine particle pollution. The Code Orange levels mean the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups, including older adults, children, and people with heart or lung disease.”


Prince William Police Department: “On June 25 at 1:22PM, officers responded to the 3400 block of Flint Hill Pl. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an indecent exposure. The investigation revealed the victim, a 36-year-old woman, observed an unknown man, later identified as the accused, exposing himself and making inappropriate gestures.”

“The accused fled on foot when the victim stated she was going to contact the police. While checking the area, officers located the accused and detained him without incident. At no point was there any physical contact between the victim and the accused. While investigating the incident, detectives determined the accused was involved in two additional indecent exposure incidents that were reported to have occurred in the 12200 block of Cotton Mill Dr. on June 20 and at Palm Beach Tan located at 12499 Dillingham Sq. on June 18.”


“Arrested on June 27: Daniel Christopher SHANNON, 33, of 611 Olde Forge Dr. in [Stafford]. Charged with 1 count of murder, 1 count of aggravated malicious wounding, 2 counts of using a firearm in commission of a felony, and 1 count of discharging a firearm within a dwelling Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”

“Identified: The deceased victim was identified as Jeremiah Quentin DECK, 21, of Woodbridge”


Virginia State Police: “Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Stafford County. The crash occurred on Monday (June 26), at 7:53 a.m. along Interstate 95 at the 134-mile marker in the local lanes.”

“A 2011 BMW sedan was traveling south on I-95 in the left lane at a slow rate of speed when it made an abrupt lane change to the right lane. A southbound 2013 Chrysler sedan was unable to avoid a collision and rear-ended the BMW. The impact caused the BMW to collide with the Jersey wall.”


Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “Around 5:00 a.m. this morning, a resident in the 1900 block of Poplar Road found ‘Pumpkin’ the cow in her backyard. We heard she was able to herd ‘Pumpkin’ to her front porch and waited for deputies.”

“Deputy J.L. Jones responded to the scene and took stock of the situation. The owner was soon located at a nearby farm and arrived to escort ‘Pumpkin’ home. It would have been udder chaos, but Deputy Jones assisted with traffic control for the moove. Thanks to the cowoperation of everyone, this story has a happy ending,”


Northern Virginia Transportation Commission: “The Commonwealth Transportation Board approved 13 projects that will provide nearly $48 million in funding for Arlington County, DASH, Fairfax Connector, Fairfax County, OmniRide, and Virginia Railway Express. The projects are part of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission’s I-395/95 Commuter Choice program, which uses revenue from tolls to support efforts to reduce traffic congestion.”

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “England Run Townhouses, 6/23, 7:50 p.m. Deputy S.D. Jett responded to a call of a breaking and entering. The victim advised someone had unlawfully entered her residence and stolen half of her marijuana. A witness observed a dark sedan outside the residence during the time of the incident.”

DRUGS Rappahannock Regional Jail, 1745 Richmond Highway, 6/23, 1:58 a.m. Anyone forget where they left their drugs? Deputy S.A. Fulford found a suspected controlled substance in the parking lot of the jail. If anyone would like to claim their lost item, feel free to give us a call.”


Stafford County Sheriff: “A Texas woman was arrested for DUI yesterday morning after striking a North Stafford apartment building with her vehicle.”

“On June 25th at 12:02 a.m. Deputy W.E. Trainor IV responded to an auto accident on Town Square Circle. He arrived to find an unoccupied gold Dodge truck in a flower bed, nestled up against an apartment building with extensive front end damage.”


National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “As a slow-moving cold front tracks through, there will be a lingering thunderstorm threat. A few may become severe along and east of I-95. Expect drier conditions with less humidity on Wed/Thu before a return to a summertime pattern by Fri. ”

“Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 pm. High near 86. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.”
