Insidenova.com: “Manassas City Public Schools have settled on a design for the new Jennie Dean Elementary School, with plans to break ground at the start of 2025.”

“On Tuesday, School Board Chair Suzanne Seaberg announced that the division had selected Arlington-based RRMM Architects for the project. The company will use a prototype design used for Hardy Elementary School in Smithfield.”


Prince William

REALTOR Association of Prince William: “Bright MLS, Smartcharts, a leading provider of real estate data and insights, has released its comprehensive report on the latest market statistics for June 2023 in the local area. This highly anticipated release offers valuable insights into the current state of the real estate market and highlights key trends and dynamics that shaped the landscape during this period.”

“The report reveals a significant decline in new listings, closed sales, and active listings in June 2023 compared to the previous year. New listings saw a substantial decrease of 47.03%, with only 579 new listings compared to 1,093 in June 2022. Likewise, closed sales experienced a decline of 21.94%, with 644 closed sales recorded in June 2023 as opposed to 825 in 2022.”

Prince William Times: “Prince William firefighters plan to negotiate shorter work weeks as a result of a recent update to the county’s collective bargaining ordinance that allows county staff to bargain over work schedules.”

“Mitch Nason, president of Prince William Professional Fire Fighters, a local chapter of the IAFF firefighters’ union, said that the union wants to reduce the firefighters’ 56-hour workweek down to a “sustainable level,” citing concerns about lack of sleep and overwork among firefighters.”

Fredericksburg Nationals: “Jarlin Susana and the Fredericksburg bullpen held the Augusta Greenjackets to just a pair of base hits in a 3-0 win.”

“Fredericksburg got on the board first, with a pair of two-out knocks in the top of the second inning. Wilmer Perez bashed a double off the wall in center field to put himself in scoring position, then John McHenry singled into right field to plate Perez and give the Freddies a 1-0 lead.”

My interns, Amelia Breeden and Madina Habib of Osbourn High School and Jacqueline Vontersch of Elon University, a Woodbridge native, joined me at the ribbon cutting of RapidFlight. The firm uses 3-D printers to make unmanned aerial drones and announced a $5 million expansion, adding more than 100 new employees.

The student interns spoke with the governor, who encouraged them to pursue their studies in school and in local journalism. More than 200 people attended the event, which allowed the interns to photograph and meet other business leaders and elected officials from their community.
