Stafford sheriff’s office: “An attempted robbery suspect and his alleged accomplices went down faster than Bud Light sales after the brazen act in a Stafford County bank yesterday.”

“On July 17th at 12:21 p.m., deputies responded to the Atlantic Union Bank at 1044 Warrenton Road for a robbery in progress. Deputy W.E. Trainor IV arrived to find that the suspect had fled the bank on foot. A perimeter was established, but deputies were unable to immediately locate the suspect.”


Prince William

An 18-year-old man shot in Woodbridge today, July 18, 2023, died after being flown to an area trauma center.

Prince William police: “Homicide Investigation – On July 18 at 1:02 AM, officers responded to the 14100 block of Big Crest Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed the victim, identified as an 18-year-old man, and a juvenile acquaintance were in the above area when the victim was shot in the upper body.”

National Weather Service: “A marginal risk of severe thunderstorms exists today for areas east of I-81. Damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail are the main threats. Highs today will be at or above 90 east of the mountains.”

“Today: Isolated showers between 2 pm and 5 pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5 pm. Widespread haze before noon. Sunny, with a high near 93. Light and variable wind becoming southwest at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.”


Prince William

Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney: “Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth announces the sentencing of Billy Riggs, 40, related to the sexual assault of four minors which occurred in Prince William County, VA, between July 2011 and December 2013. Mr. Riggs pled guilty to one count of rape and four counts of aggravated sexual battery on July 25, 2022. On July 14, 2023, Mr. Riggs was sentenced to serve 90 years in prison.”

“On April 2, 2019, Prince William County Police began an investigation into a sexual assault that was reported to have occurred in Triangle between July 2011 and December 2013. The investigation revealed that one victim, who was between 4 and 6 years old at the time, was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance on more than one occasion.”
