Stafford County Government: “Early voting in Stafford County begins on Friday, September 22, 2023. This year’s general election is on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. You may request a mail-in ballot from the General Registrar until October 27, 2023.”

“Early voting will be available at Conference Room ABC of the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554. It is available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. from September 22, 2023, through November 3, 2023. It will also be available on two Saturdays – October 28, 2023, and November 4, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.”

Insidenova.com: “Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair Ann Wheeler on Tuesday walked back her original plans to consider the contentious PW Digital Gateway data center project at the board’s Nov. 21 meeting that falls just days before Thanksgiving.”

“The Tuesday before Thanksgiving is not an appropriate time to hear the Digital Gateway,” Wheeler said during the board’s Sept. 12 meeting.”

Prince William County Public Schools: “Signs stating, “No public access to grounds during school hours,” are being installed at every school in the division. Each school will have multiple signs on or around high-traffic areas on the school property.”

“Limiting public access to school grounds during the school day is a result of several incidents of trespassing on our campuses. The posted signs serve as a reminder to the public and provide a proactive approach to safety.”

The Woodbridge Potomac Communities Civic Association will host a forum on crime and public safety in Prince William County.

The program comes as the violent crime rate in Prince William County has increased by 70% since 2019. It’s also an election year in the county, with all local seats on the Board of County Supervisors, School Board, Sheriff’s Office, and Commonwealth Attorney on the ballot.

U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia: “A Baltimore man was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.”

“According to court documents, in December 2022, Rodney Burgess, 29, unlawfully purchased a firearm, extended magazine, and 9mm ammunition from a Federal Firearms Licensee in Woodbridge through a straw purchaser. On March 2, 2023, investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) arrested Burgess pursuant to a federal warrant.”

Prince William police: “Fatal Crash Investigation *DRIVER CHARGED – On September 7, crash investigators obtained charges for one of the drivers involved in the fatal crash that occurred in the area of Minnieville Rd. and Hedgewood Dr. in Woodbridge (22193) on August 30. The drivers of both vehicles involved in the collision were found to have been traveling at a high rate of speed leading up to the collision. The driver charged was operating a vehicle and lost control, striking the other vehicle which then left the roadway and hit a tree. The collision killed the 23-year-old driver of the vehicle, a 2011 BMW 535. The deceased was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Following the investigation, crash investigators charged the driver of the 2014 Nissan 370 Z, identified as Bilecer Turcios HERNANDEZ, who was also determined to have been driving the vehicle without a license.”
