Initially, first responders thought a pedestrian had been struck, but it wasn’t long before they learned a man had been ejected from a car. The unidentified man was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he was expected to survive, said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.

There were no other cars involved, and it’s unclear what led to the crash. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

At 3:39 a.m., Sunday, May 8, fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 15000 block of Lee Highway (Route 29), near the Wegmans grocery store at the Stonewall Shops, for a reported house fire by a passerby.

Crews arrived to find a barn fully involved. Fire crews learned there were animals inside but could not be saved due to the volume of fire.

(The Center Square) – Twenty attorneys general are demanding that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “immediately disband” the agency’s newly created Disinformation Governance Board and “cease all efforts to police Americans’ protected speech.”

In a letter dated May 5, they argue the board is unconstitutional, illegal, and un-American. If Mayorkas doesn’t shut it down, the AGs say they will sue.

Virginia American Water and Prince William County unveiled a new Welcome to Dale City sign on Thursday, May 5, 2022.  The unique stone sign with a concrete capstone is at Gideon Drive and Dale Boulevard, marking the entrance to Dale City.

“This is a very special day for Dale City and really Prince William County. We’ve got a lot of things in the hopper of revitalization. This sign, ‘Welcome to Dale City’ is a huge part of that because this is the entrance to this district,” Prince William County Neabsco District Supervisor Victor S. Angry said at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony at the sign.

A piece of rural land near the Prince William County Public Schools headquarters could be carved up and turned into new homes.

The county Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, to review a proposal to rezone 70 acres from A-1, Agricultural, to PMR, Planned Mixed Residential, and allow for the development of up to 210 residential units 219,000 square feet of commercial and office.

In a few short hours, it’s going to start raining, and it’s going to keep raining for the next two days.

According to the National Weather Service, we’re in for a weekend washout. An area of low pressure will cross the region slowly from Friday through at least the first half of the weekend with clouds and plenty of rain, along with the chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds.
