Today, Prince William County firefighters were dispatched to the 9500 block of Bonair Drive, near Manassas, for a report of a neighbor’s house on fire.

A Stafford man is in custody for murder after a shooting this morning at a local motel.
At 8:15 a.m. Sunday, June 19, deputies found a man suffering a gunshot wound to the chest in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn, 386 Warrenton Road in Stafford County.
Someone drowned at Leesylvania State Park over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 18, when a swimmer near the boating docks drowned. Police began an investigation.

Today, Texas Senator Ted Cruz will stump for Yesli Vega, who is running for the GOP nomination in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. Cruz ran for president in 2016 and stumped during the trucker convoy protests that came to the region earlier this year.
The driver of a 2016 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on Old Bridge Road, just past Cape Cod Court, when the vehicle left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk where the vehicle then struck a pedestrian who was walking his dog.
The vehicle continued traveling before it struck a communications box and a power pole, causing the pole to snap and fall into the roadway. Officers and bystanders provided first aid to the pedestrian until rescue personnel arrived.

There is also an expected announcement pertaining to VRE’s financial support of Transforming Rail in Virginia that will further document the support for the commonwealth’s commitment to expanding VRE service over the next decade. Transforming Rail in Virginia came as a result of an agreement between the commonwealth and CSX Transportation which seeks to improve rail transit in Virginia.
