Fredericksburg police: “After experiencing two firearms-related homicides within a three-month timespan, the Fredericksburg Police Department increased its enforcement efforts against people in possession of illegal firearms and/or illicit drugs.”

“If you own a firearm, store it safely and do not leave it in an unlocked vehicle. There have been several police reports this summer where guns were stolen from unlocked cars. If you want to surrender an unwanted firearm voluntarily, bring it to Fredericksburg Police Headquarters anytime, day or night.”

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office:  “DRUGS -Rappahannock Regional Jail, 1745 Richmond Highway, 7/6, 7:44 p.m. Deputy C.R. Newman responded to a failed secret pocket ruse. Jail staff advised a male brought in by the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office was discovered with suspected controlled substances tucked in his underwear. While the suspect confirmed the type of controlled substances, he advised he ‘forgot’ they were there. Deputy Newman didn’t forget to charge the suspect with felony by a prisoner. He continues to be held without bond.”

“FRAUD – Augustine Golf Club, 76 Monument Drive, 7/6, 7:15 p.m. The victim received notification his debit card was fraudulently used in Dumfries. After receiving this news, he checked his vehicle only to discover his cards were in fact not there. Deputy B.E. Vaughn is investigating. Cambridge Street, 7/6, 7:30 p.m. The victim was going about her day when she discovered she did not have her debit card. After discovering this, she called her bank to discover there were fraudulent transactions. Deputy N.J. Amato is investigating.”


Prince William

Virginia Department of Transportation: “The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking feedback on a STARS (Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions) study assessing potential safety, operational and multimodal improvements for just over a mile of Dale Boulevard (Route 784) from Gideon Drive to Route 1, and nearly half a mile of Rippon Boulevard (Route 1392) from Route 1 to Blackburn Road.”

“The study is assessing existing traffic, safety and multimodal conditions in the corridor, including driver weaving issues at the Dale Boulevard/I-95 interchange and accommodations for people walking and biking. Within the study limits, Dale Boulevard averages about 42,000 vehicles a day and Rippon Boulevard averages about 12,000.”

On Thursday, July 13, 2023, Locust Shade Park will hold a reptile show as a part of their “Reptile World” program at the park’s amphitheater at 4701 Locust Shade Drive, Triangle.

The “Reptile World” program was made to introduce reptiles from around the world to the audience. Its main goal is to increase students’ interest, connection, and awareness of the natural world and its reptilian species.

“The investigation revealed the accused was involved in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance, a 29-year-old woman, that escalated when the accused pulled the victim to the ground. At one point, the accused retrieved a knife and threatened the victim when other occupants in the home attempted to intervene. The accused then drove his vehicle into a parked vehicle outside of the residence as the victim and other occupants retreated to a bedroom in the home. The accused attempted to force entry into the room when police arrived on the scene. Minor injuries were reported by one of the other parties. While investigating the incident, officers determined the accused was wanted for his involvement in an unrelated malicious assault that occurred on Kilhaven Ct. in Manassas on June 25.”

Virginia Railway Express: “The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) has officially opened its new Lifecycle Overhaul and Upgrade (LOU) Facility, which allows the commuter rail service to perform expanded maintenance onsite in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.”

“The LOU features a drop table to remove locomotive and railcar trucks and wheelsets; wheel truing machine to reprofile rolling stock wheelsets; overhead bridge crane with two lift points – one with a 5-ton and the other with a 30-ton capacity; and two tracks, each holding up to four locomotives or railcars.”
