Police said a Maryland man was driving under the influence when he struck a firefighter at the scene of a car crash on Interstate 95.
At 11:08 p.m. Thursday, August 18, firefighters were called to a crash on I-95 north near. Garrisonville Road. Police said the driver, who was not involved in the crash, sped into the back of a fire truck parked on the side of the highway.
Drivers headed from the Tysons Corner area to Manassas must use a new exit ramp starting next week.
The first new exit ramp and bridge for the under-construction Interstate 66/495 interchange is scheduled to open ahead of schedule beginning on or about next Thursday, August 25, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

On Saturday, August 13, at 1:32 p.m., police went to the area of Mile Marker 18 on Joplin Road in Triangle to investigate a crash involving a motorcycle.
The 2013 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster motorcycle operator was traveling southbound on Joplin Road with a group of other riders. As the motorcycle approached the area, the operator failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the roadway and traveled over the double yellow lines before leaving the roadway and striking a tree, police said.

A woman died in a crash on Bells Hill Road in Stafford County.
On Monday, August 8 at 8:24 p.m. deputies responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of 77 Bells Hill Road, about a quarter mile from Mason Dixon Cafe on Route 1.
On August 7 at 11:13 a.m., Prince William police responded to Route 1 and Allen Dent Road just outside Dumfries for a motorcycle crash.
Police said the operator of a 2006 Shadow Aero VT750 was traveling south on Route 1 in an apparent reckless manner, according to multiple witnesses. As the motorcycle approached the intersection, the operator disregarded the red traffic signal and proceeded into the intersection, where the motorcycle then collided with a 2015 Hyundai Tucson that had the green signal and was turning left onto northbound Richmond Hwy from Allen Dent Road, police said.
