On July 15 at 12:26 p.m., Prince William police were called to Telegraph and Caton Hill roads in Woodbridge to investigate a crash between a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche and a 2018 Ford E-350. The driver of the Avalanche was making a left turn from northbound Telegraph Road onto Caton Hill Road when the vehicle crossed paths with the E-350 that was traveling south on Telegraph Road straight through the intersection.

The driver of the Ford appears to of had a green signal to proceed into the intersection, while the driver of the Chevrolet turning left had a flashing yellow arrow indicating the driver should yield to oncoming traffic before safely proceeding, police said. The force of the collision rotated the Avalanche before the vehicle came to a rest in the intersection.

Keiry Beatriz Alvarez Contreras, 23, pleaded guilty on May 9, 2022, to striking and killing 74-year-old Jose Pastor Manzanareas with her car.

Last fall, Alvarez Contreras was driving on Route 28 near Connor Drive in Manassas Park when she struck the victim. After the collision, police said the man tried to use his cell phone to call for help, but Alvarez Contreras stopped her car, got out, swiped the phone, and tossed it away.

Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Spotsylvania County. The crash occurred Saturday, July 30 at 10:40 p.m. along Route 3 at Market Street, at Central Park.

A 2003 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling west on Route 3 at a high rate of speed in the left lane when it swerved to avoid slower-moving traffic. The motorcycle then collided with a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse traveling westbound in the right lane. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle.

Interstate 95 travelers will see lane closures and full traffic stops overnight this week in the Fredericksburg area at multiple locations, northbound and southbound, between exit 148 (Quantico) in Stafford County and exit 104 (Carmel Church) in Caroline County, for maintenance and construction work.

Crews are building bridges and ramps as part of the future 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension, while other work zones are needed for inspection of existing I-95 overpasses, and resurfacing travel lanes.

Starting Tuesday, August 2, drivers on I-95 south headed to Route 17 north towards Warrenton or Route 17 south toward Falmouth will use a new, permanent ramp half a mile before the decision point between local and through lanes. The new ramp is just north of the Truslow Road overpass.

The permanent traffic pattern will divide local traffic between Route 17 and Route 3 at an earlier point to reduce merging and weaving approaching the exit 133 interchange at Route 17.
