A Dumfries man died when his car collided with a retaining wall today.
At 11:24 a.m., police and fire and rescue crews went to River Rock Way and Potomac Center Boulevard in Woodbridge, near Wegmans grocery store, to investigate a crash.

At 11:30 a.m., Friday, August 19, crews were dispatched to the 16300 block of Topsail Lane, just off Route 1, for a house fire.
Crews found heavy fire and smoke from the garage, said Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Chief Matt Smolsky. The fire extended into the home when, as fire crews began their attack.

Smoke detectors activated and alerted the occupant. The occupant sustained a minor injury attempting to remove the food from the stove. No other injuries were reported.

On October 21, 2019, 21-year-old Nathaniel Isiah Hickson was found suffering a gunshot wound in the 2300 block of Briar Rose Lane in Lake Ridge. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
A teacher who works at Rippon Middle School and lives at a nearby elementary school faces a weapons charge.
The suspect lives in an apartment at Covington Harper Elementary School near Dumfries, about six miles from Rippon Middle School, and had guns and ammunition inside the apartment, sources said.
