Prince William police: “Fatal Crash Investigation – On November 25 at 7:50PM, crash investigators responded to the 5300 block of Davis Ford Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a single-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed the driver of a 1994 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Davis Ford Rd. at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the eastbound lanes, and left the roadway. The vehicle traveled off-road before striking a tree and coming to rest. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.”

“The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The driver was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash on November 30. Speed and impairment appear to be factors in the collision. Investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to contact police.”

“During the encounter, the suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded property from both juveniles. The suspect then took the vehicle belonging to one of the juveniles and drove out of the area. No weapon was brandished by the suspect, only implied. While driving the stolen vehicle, the suspect rearended a Prince William County Public Schools bus stopped at the intersection of Rippon Landing Way and Blackburn Rd. The suspect then fled on foot prior to police arriving in the area. The bus driver was the only occupant on the bus at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported.”

“A police K-9 searched the area for the suspect, who was not located. Shoes and an undisclosed amount of money were reported missing. Suspect Description: A black male, about 20 years old, approximately 5’11”, and right-handed Last seen wearing a black mask and a black jacket with fur on the hood.”

Prince William Police Department: Strong-Arm Robbery *ARREST – On November 22, the suspect sought in connection to the robbery that was reported to have occurred at the Potomac Mills Nordstrom Rack located at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, suite #972, in Woodbridge on November 13, was arrested. The accused, identified as Dwayne EDWARDS, was located in the Woodbridge area and taken into custody without incident. The case remains active as officers attempt to identify the second suspect involved in the incident. Arrested on November 22: Dwayne EDWARDS, 60, of 3983 Antwerp Court in Woodbridge. Charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and grand larceny. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Unavailable. Suspect Description: Black male, unknown age, 5’10, 180lbs with a medium build. No clothing description available.”

Strong-Arm Robbery [Previously Released] – On November 13 at 11:37 a.m., officers responded to the Potomac Mills Nordstrom Rack located at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle, suite #972, to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed loss prevention staff observed a man conceal merchandise and exit the store through an employee door. The staff member confronted the man in the parking lot loading the merchandise into a vehicle. During the encounter, a second man exited the vehicle before both men struck the staff member. The suspects then got into the vehicle and fled the area. Minor injuries were reported, and various handbags were taken. During the investigation, officers identified the second man involved as Dwayne EDWARDS and obtain arrest warrants. The initial suspect who concealed the merchandise has not been identified. Attempts to locate EDWARDS have been unsuccessful.”

Transurban: “Transurban North America, operator of the 95, 395, and 495 Express Lanes, announced today the final access points of the 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension will open at 10 p.m. on December 7, 2023, ready for northbound rush hour the morning of December 8, 2023. Completion of the extension creates the longest reversible facility in the nation, with additional access and capacity improvements for the corridor underway.”

“Regional travelers will have new access to the 95 Express Lanes via a reversible ramp from Courthouse Road/Route 630 in Stafford County, and a northbound exit from and southbound entrance to I-95 general purpose lanes near Marine Corps Base Quantico. Access will also be available at the southern terminus for northbound traffic entering from Route 3 and Route 17.”

Prince William Police Department:  Attempt to Disarm a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On November 18 at 10:02 p.m., while patrolling in the area of Easy

Street and Richmond Highway in Woodbridge officers located a man trespassing in a posted no trespassing area. During the encounter, officers determined the man, later identified as the accused, was also actively wanted. As officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted and refused to follow officers’ commands. At some point during the encounter, the accused attempted to retrieve a knife from his waistband and when officers prevented him from doing so, he struck an officer in the face. The accused then grabbed another officer’s neck before grabbing the officer’s weapon and attempting to remove it from the holster. After an additional brief struggle, the accused was secured without further incident. Officers also determined the accused was in possession of suspected illegal narcotics. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Navon Malik REID, was arrested. Arrested on November 18: Navon Malik REID, 26, of no fixed address. Charged with 1 count of attempted disarming of a LEO, 2 counts of assault & battery on LEO, 2 counts of obstruction of justice, and 1 count of possession of schedule I/II drug. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”

Elbe J. d’Oliveira Jr. (Age 83)

Elbe J. d’Oliveira Jr., 83, of Southington, CT and formerly of Woodbridge, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Elbe was the loving husband of Sheila M. (Lefebvre) d’Oliveira for 56 years. Elbe was born on August 8, 1940 in New Bedford, MA to the late Elbe Sr. and Helen (Krakowiak) d’Oliveira and graduated from New Bedford High School, Class of 1958.
