Prince William police report the first murder in the county of 2024.
On Saturday, January 6 at 5:04 p.m., officers responded to investigate a shooting that reportedly occurred in the area of Possum Point Road and Leonard Street in Dumfries earlier that day.
Prince William Police Department: “Attempted Malicious Wounding *ARRESTS – On January 2, 2024, officers concluded the investigation into the shots fired call that was reported to have occurred in a parking lot in the 14600 block of Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge on July 20, 2023. During the investigation, officers were able to identify and obtained warrants for two men who shot during the altercation. The incident stemmed from a previous dispute involving other known parties. While investigating the incident, one of the accused tampered with evidence. One of the suspects, identified as Gabriel Alexander BRUINS, was served on
January 2 while in custody at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center on unrelated charges, while the second suspect, identified as Kalill Gary GILL, was located in the Woodbridge area and taken into custody without incident the following day. Arrested between January 2-3: Gabriel Alexander BRUINS, 22, of 3519 Forestdale Avenue in Woodbridge. Charged with attempted malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Court Date: Pending | Status: Remains Incarcerated. Kalill Gary GILL, 20, of 3328 Wyndale Court in Woodbridge. Charged with attempted malicious wounding, evidence tampering, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond.”
We’re updating this post, which you read first here on Potomac Local News on Thursday night. Police are now offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest of the person who shot a woman in the neck and killed her.
Murder Investigation – On December 28 at 7:56AM, officers responded to a wooded area behind a business located in the 1200 block of Easy St in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a death. The investigation revealed the victim, a 51-year-old woman, was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead on scene. During the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as an acquaintance of the victim, and that the shooting stemmed from an earlier argument over fentanyl pills. Detectives have since obtained arrest warrants for the suspect, identified as Karen Nicole POLLARD. Attempts to locate the suspect have been unsuccessful. The police department is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of this suspect. The investigation continues.
“Shooting Investigation – On December 26 at 5:07PM, officers responded to The Landings at Markhams Grant Apartments located in the 15700 block of Tassia Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed a 22-year-old man was shot inside a vehicle while in the parking lot of the complex. Officers arrived and provided first-aid to the man who was treated at an area hospital with serious injuries. The investigation continues.”
“Shooting Investigation | Hit & Run – On December 24 at 12:38AM, officers responded to the 13600 block of Kingsman Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed the victim, a 22- year-old man, exited his home after hearing his car alarm sound and observed the window to his vehicle smashed. The victim then confronted a possible suspect walking down Kingsman Rd who turned and shot towards the victim. The victim then returned to his vehicle and attempted to locate the suspect before his vehicle was struck from the opposite direction by the driver of another vehicle, later determined to be the same suspect. The suspect then exited the vehicle and shot towards the victim’s vehicle multiple times before fleeing the area. Officers located the suspect vehicle unoccupied nearby and determined it was previously reported stolen on December 15. A police K-9 searched the area for the suspect who was not located. No injuries were reported. The suspect was only described as a black or Hispanic male with a heavy build wearing dark-colored clothing.”

Three people were displaced after a house fire in the Marumsco Acres section of Woodbridge.
“[Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:44 a.m.], units were summoned to [14000 blk Fisher Ave.] for residents observing smoke and smelling something burning behind a dryer in the basement. Crews arrived and extinguished a small fire in the wall. The home sustained minimal damage. No injuries were reported. Three (3) adults were displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was caused by an electrical failure,” reports the fire marshal.
