The City of Manassas School Board seeks rising juniors and seniors interested in becoming Student representatives for the School Board. Students must apply online before April 17, 2023. 

The Board will select two students to serve a year-long term and be a voice for all Manassas City Public School students.

On Saturday, April 22, 2023, Manassas Park Community Services will hold a community day. The event will occur from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Manassas Park City Hall, 100 Park Central Plaza, Manassas Park, 20110.

If the weather is unaccommodating, the venue will be Manassas Park High School, 8200 Euclid Avenue, Manassas Park.

 Fredericksburg has been named 2022 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor our commitment to effective urban forest management. 

This is the 36th year the city has achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements: maintaining a tree board or department, having a tree care ordinance, dedicating an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

The Manassas Family Fun Carnival is set to return on March 30 – April 9, 2023, and will be hosted by Powers and Thomas’s entertainment company. The traveling carnival will be held at 8300 Sudley Road, just outside the Manassas Mall and near the”At Home” furniture store.

The hours range from 6 to 11 p.m. on weekdays and from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends. There is an initial $5 entry fee, but there will also be a $35 all-day unlimited rides wristband available.

On April 12, 2023, Annaburg Manor, 9201 Maple Street, will hold a public “meet and greet” event at noon. Annaburg is considered to be one of the most historical places in Manassas.

It is hosted by the City of Manassas Virginia Parks Culture & Recreation Department to connect the Manassas community with the archeologists working on the historic site. It is open to the public and does not require registration beforehand.

Keep Prince William Beautiful called for local artists to beautify bus stops in Dumfries. The project is being facilitated to improve the community and ridership experience. 

The Adopt-A-Shelter program, managed by the Keep Prince William Beautiful non-profit, partnered with both local bus service provider OnniRide, and the Dumfries Town Government to encourage the community to keep the stops clean.

Fredericksburg Regional Transit, also known as FXBGO!, received two $20,000 grants from the Joe and Mary Wilson Community Benefit Fund of Mary Washington Hospital Foundation and the Stafford Hospital Community Benefit Fund.

These grants will allow the agency to continue to provide transit service in the Fredericksburg region that will facilitate access to healthcare through public transportation and act as a mechanism to address health issues through the benefits and connections transit service provides, a press release states.

“Love Island USA,”  a TV show currently the Peacock streaming service, is currently casting for its upcoming season, which will stream this summer.

The show seeks a new group of singles to participate in the competition, where islanders will take up residence in a villa in hopes of finding love and winning a $100,000 prize.

Occoquan announces their spring event is back for 2023. Peep Week in Occoquan takes place from April 4 to 8, 2023.

Peep week is an annual spring event in Occoquan that invites the community to participate in building a Peeps diorama. If you enter, you can win a $50 prize in your category, or you can vote for one made by a local Occoquan business.
