Theresa Ellis will run for Congress in Virginia’s new 7th District, most likely including her hometown Manassas city, Prince William, and Stafford counties.

The Republican, who sits on the Manassas City Council, initially announced a bid for the 10th District seat this summer. However, changes to statewide political districts proposed by the Virginia State Supreme Court would mean Manassas and a portion of Prince William County would no longer sit in District 10.

Tax break: The Stafford County Board of Supervisors approved a $90,000 tax break incentive over five years to support the expansion of Stafford based business, Virginia Oncology Care. According to witnesses, smoke billowed from the house in the 3400 block of Forestdale Avenue, near the intersection of Fairview Lane.

Four people left exited the house before firefighters arrived, according to a Dale City Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief on the scene. According to scanner traffic, crews went to the fire scene at 6:34 p.m.

The Central Rappahannock Regional Library System continues to expand its online offerings to help customers with a wide array of needs.

Library Director Martha Hutzel delivered the news covering September and November to the Stafford County Board of Supervisors on December 14. The report outlines the efforts made by the library system to offer online assistance in areas such as workforce, tutoring, and business and entrepreneurial development.
