On Tuesday, May 3, deputies went to Heflin’s Garage at 147 Warrenton Road, across from a Dunkin Donuts in Falmouth.

A man told employees he had a video of a shooting and needed to get out of the area. A teen was shot, and another man was wounded in a shooting the same day in the nearby Olde Forge neighborhood.

Stafford County is set to spend $1.8 million on a new sidewalk in the northern part of the county.

Before it does, it wants to hear from you. The Stafford County Department of Capital Projects will host a public meeting about the Staffordboro Boulevard Sidewalk Project Wednesday, May 18, from 6 to  7 p.m. at Anne E. Moncure Elementary School, 120 Juggins Road in North Stafford.

(The Center Square) – Intuit, owner of the popular tax-filing website TurboTax, will need to pay out $3.5 million to Virginia consumers in response to allegations of deceptive advertising practices, according to a settlement agreement between the company and the commonwealth.

The Open Space Art Gallery is now open in a space once occupied by South Moon Under, at 15000 Potomac Town Center Place near Wegmans. The Prince William Arts Council, in conjunction with the Prince William Art Society, is maintaining the space.

“Stonebridge and JBG Smith [owners of Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center] were happy to have Prince William County Arts Council utilize the space,” spokeswoman Anastasia Pordorski told Potomac Local News. “It had been sitting vacant since the prior tenant vacated in early 2020.”

Police are on the scene of a shooting at a Motel 6 in Dumfries, where one person was found suffering gunshot wounds. The unidentified man was taken to a local hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

While road crews changed their plans for tonight’s highway work, detours are still planned for tomorrow night as crews work to extend E-ZPass toll lanes to Fredericksburg.

Crews will lift and install new bridge beams for the future flyover at exit 148 at Quantico interchange in Stafford County. The work means all northbound drivers will be detoured a near exit 143, Garrisonville Road, onto the Express Lanes between 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tolls will not apply to drivers routed onto the Express Lanes.
