Fire and Rescue System Chief Timothy L. Keen announced his retirement after 40 years of service to Prince William County. His retirement date is effective Sept. 1, 2022.
Chief Keen began his career in Prince William County as a volunteer in January of 1982. He has led the Fire and Rescue System as chief for the past three years.
Prince William police were called to a shooting in Woodbridge where they found a wounded 38-year-old man.

A Chesapeake man has been arrested and charged with a series of vehicle thefts and arson over the weekend in Stafford County reports a joint statement from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department.
Stafford, VA–At approximately 1:35 A.M. on Saturday, July 16th, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue were dispatched for a reported vehicle fire in the 100 block of Hamlin Drive in the Grafton Village area. Units found a fully involved vehicle fire and quickly brought it under control.
The investigation revealed an inmate of the facility, identified as the accused, approached an ADC officer with a plastic hand-made sharpened object. During the encounter, the accused attempted to stab the officer multiple times. After a brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody without further incident. The officer reported minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Salomon Alberto NAZAR, was charged and remains incarcerated at the ADC.
Salomon Alberto Nazar, 44, of 10256 Cedar Ridge Drive in Manassas, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding of an ADC officer, stabbing in the commission of a felony, assault, and battery on an ADC officer, and injury of an ADC officer by a prisoner.
During the 2020 pandemic, it served as a mass vaccination site. Now, Prince William County will open a crisis receiving center in the space near Potomac Mills mall.
The space at 14041 Worth Avenue in Woodbridge will house a center providing 23-hour monitoring for those in the middle of a mental health crisis. The center will aim to take the stress off police officers, who can spend an entire shift or more sitting with patients, returning those officers to the streets.
A woman outside Montclair Family Restaurant near Dumfries was struck with a hammer, and now two men face charges.

Authorities in Stafford County sent a SWAT team today to a home off Mine Road in the northern part of the county.
It’s unclear if anyone was arrested during the raid. The sheriff’s office has released only a few details on the incident.
