Fire and rescue crews were called to a house fire at 9:53 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Crews were dispatched to the 19000 block of Windsor Road in Dumfries) for a reported house fire. Crews arrived with fire showing and spreading rapidly into the home from an enclosed porch. Fire attack followed.


Today, May 16, 2023, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors killed its LOSAP program, a financial arrangement devised in 2006 as a way to recruit volunteer firefighters.

Crews found heavy smoke from the front and heavy fire from the rear of a single-family residence. Crews quickly began working to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes.

The four occupants could get out before the arrival of the units, and none reported injuries. The occupants were first alerted when they heard a noise in the house, and then the smoke alarms sounded.

Prince William County Fire and Rescue System Chief Thomas Labelle came on duty Monday after a swearing-in ceremony at the McCoart Government Center.

LaBelle, who will lead the system that includes eight volunteer fire and rescue departments, will be responsible for the system’s Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and Emergency Management Services.

A fire at 4:01 a.m. Saturday, April 29, displaced seven people from a townhouse in Dale City.

Earlier this morning, multiple calls reported a townhouse on fire in the 3200 block of Birchdale Square (Woodbridge). Crews arrived with fire showing from a townhouse spreading into an adjoining home. Conditions required a second alarm to be requested but was later returned. Two (2) homes were damaged. The fire structure sustained extensive damage and the adjoining structure was moderately damaged. No injuries were reported. The Building Official posted the two (2) homes unsafe to occupy. The Red Cross is assisting five (5) adults and two (2) children displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire originated in an electrical outlet in an upstairs bedroom.

Last evening, units were dispatched to the 12800 block of Mill House Ct. (Lake Ridge) for a reported townhouse fire. Crews arrived with heavy fire showing with extension into an adjoining unit. A second alarm was requested to assist. Two (2) units sustained fire damage and a third received smoke damage. No injuries were reported. Five (5) adults were displaced and were assisted by the Red Cross. The Building Official posted the two (2) fire damaged units unsafe to occupy. The Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.

On Monday, crews were called to a townhouse blaze in Dale City.

Arson, Attempted Murder*Arrest – On April 16, Fire Marshals charged a suspect in connection to the townhouse fire that occurred in the 3600 block of Dalhgreen Place (Dumfries) on November 26, 2022. The suspect is the stepbrother of the occupant who rented the basement portion of the home.

At the time of the fire, two (2) other occupants were upstairs in the home. Evidence from the scene and the suspect’s actions ultimately led to his identity in the incident. Following the investigation, Fire Marshals obtained arrest warrants for the suspect, identified as Nathanial Earl Payne, in connection with the incident. On April 18, the suspect was located and arrested without incident in Fairfax County by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

A NOVEC employee was shocked and flown to a hospital this afternoon.

This afternoon at 4:37 PM, units were dispatched to the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) Innovation Substation, located in the 9300 block of Godwin Drive, for a report of an individual who was electrocuted. A NOVEC employee, working on equipment, was accidentally electrocuted. The employee was rescued by fire and rescue personnel approximately 16’ in the air on a manlift. The adult male victim was flown by helicopter to an area trauma center for evaluation.
