Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of a brush fire on Interstate 95 near Quantico.
As you can see from the photos above, taken from VDOT cameras, smoke is billowing from the forested areas on the southbound side of the highway, near milepost 148, Quantico Marine Corps Base’s back gate.
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, a wind-driven brush fire quickly spread and burned three vehicles and two sheds in the Lake Arrowhead neighborhood.
Stafford fire and rescue: Our units responded to a brush fire along Maple Lane yesterday at approximately 1130 hours. Units found about a half acre on fire, with two small sheds and three non-functioning vehicles on fire. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes. The fire was not exclusively wind-driven, but several factors including low humidity and dry fuels contributed to the spread. The homeowner was advised of the burn laws.

Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue press release: Earlier this morning, units were dispatched to the 13400 block of Princedale Drive for a report of a house fire. Crews arrived to find a fire in an attached garage; extinguishment quickly followed. Unfortunately, the structure sustained moderate damage and was posted unsafe to occupy by the building official.
The Red Cross responded and assisted three (3) adults and one (1) child who were displaced. There were no injuries reported. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire was accidental through the improper storage of oily rags.
Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue (Press Release): Last evening, units were dispatched to the 14200 Block of Wilderness Lane (Dale Forest Apartments) for a fire report in an apartment.
Crews arrived with light smoke in the building. All occupants had safely evacuated the building. A fire was discovered in an apartment and was quickly extinguished. There were no reported injuries.
Prince William County fire and rescue crews went to the Shorehaven Apartments in the 16900 block of Porters Inn Drive in Dumfries for a fire to have been extinguished.
Crews arrived on the scene to discover a fire on a balcony and requested additional units to assist. The fire was confined to the balcony with limited extension into two units.
Prince William County Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to the 2000 block off of Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge earlier this morning for a report from a passerby of fire through the roof of an office building.
Crews arrived with heavy fire showing from a two-story office building. Large master streams were utilized to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported, but four businesses have been displaced.
Fire and rescue crews were called to the 15200 block of Larkspur Lane at 11:43 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2024, for a reported house fire.
Crews learned about the candle igniting a mattress and found heavy smoke conditions on the second floor. The two occupants had safely evacuated the home.
Units were dispatched to the 4500 block of Lawnvale Drive near Haymarket where a bathroom ceiling fan fire had ignited material inside a wall.
Crews extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. The house sustained moderate damage and was determined to be unsafe to occupy by the Building Official.
