Brig. Gen. Bryan E. Salmon, Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, 15th Air Force, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., was the presiding official for this special event. Brig. Gen. Salmon also serves as the Assistant Adjutant General for Air Strategic Initiatives for the Virginia National Guard. Hince earned his Spaatz Award, number #2415, on July 24th, 2022.

Parents Dan and Teri Hince, grandparents Britt and Therese Hayes, Hince’s four siblings, extended family, and several CAP members celebrated Hince’s cadet, academic, and athletic achievements. Hince will be a freshman this Fall at Longwood University in Farmville, studying history and international relations as a member of the 2026 class.


The Woodbridge Community Choir is planning its Christmas show and needs singers.

The Christmas concert series is planned for December 3rd & 4th, with the possibility for other performances to be scheduled. The Christmas Glow program features new arrangements of your favorite carols and some new songs.


On Monday, August 8, U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D) will make two stops in our area today — one in Stafford County and the other in Woodbridge. 

Spanberger is expected to address rising food prices and ongoing supply chain disruptions as she mounts a re-election bid. 


On August 7 at 11:13 a.m., Prince William police responded to Route 1 and Allen Dent Road just outside Dumfries for a motorcycle crash.

Police said the operator of a 2006 Shadow Aero VT750 was traveling south on Route 1 in an apparent reckless manner, according to multiple witnesses. As the motorcycle approached the intersection, the operator disregarded the red traffic signal and proceeded into the intersection, where the motorcycle then collided with a 2015 Hyundai Tucson that had the green signal and was turning left onto northbound Richmond Hwy from Allen Dent Road, police said.


On July 15 at 12:26 p.m., Prince William police were called to Telegraph and Caton Hill roads in Woodbridge to investigate a crash between a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche and a 2018 Ford E-350. The driver of the Avalanche was making a left turn from northbound Telegraph Road onto Caton Hill Road when the vehicle crossed paths with the E-350 that was traveling south on Telegraph Road straight through the intersection.

The driver of the Ford appears to of had a green signal to proceed into the intersection, while the driver of the Chevrolet turning left had a flashing yellow arrow indicating the driver should yield to oncoming traffic before safely proceeding, police said. The force of the collision rotated the Avalanche before the vehicle came to a rest in the intersection.


Dumfries Finance Director Kimberly Goodwin presented a snapshot of the town’s financial picture on Wednesday, August 3.

Overall, things are looking rosy for the small town that’s about to be home to the most prominent gaming resort in Northern Virginia — The Rose. This $389 million complex will include slots, a hotel, sports bar, restaurant, and convention space to open next year.


Following their annual performance review of the Superintendent, on June 12, 2022, the Prince William County School Board voted to approve a one-year extension of Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Superintendent Dr. LaTanya D. McDade’s four-year contract, with a revised contract end date of June 30, 2026.

“The contract extension unanimously approved by the School Board is an affirmation of the exceptional leadership of Dr. McDade. Following a tumultuous period in PWCS she has brought clarity, vision, and a steadfast focus on improving teaching and learning,” said Prince William County School Board Chairman At-Large Dr. Babur Lateef. “Public education is at an inflection point in history, the pandemic has left its mark on our students’ learning and wellbeing. Dr. McDade is the right person, at the right time, to ensure our students, teachers, employees, families, and community accelerate our work together to achieve the educational outcomes that every child deserves.”

Three people are now in custody after shooting at the Elevation One apartment complex in the 14300 block of Jefferies Road in Woodbridge.

Manassas City police found Maurice Eric Sowers IV on Tuesday, August 2. He joins two others who are arrested and charged in the shooting, Emerson Titus McCallister and Daniele Depaolis, who were arrested on July 18.
