Prince William police: On April 9, 2024, detectives concluded an investigation into the solicitation of a minor that was reported to have occurred in the Woodbridge area of Prince William County in February 2023.

The investigation revealed during the above timeframe, the victim, who was under the age of 18 at the time of the offenses, received sexually explicit messages from an acquaintance, identified as the accused, via text messages.

OmniRide: OmniRide hosted the 2024 Virginia State Bus Roadeo April 5 – April 7 at the organization’s Western Facility near Manassas. Thirty-four bus operators and seven maintenance teams from across the state took part in this safety and operations competition

The top operator was Nathan Harris from the Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC). The maintenance team winners were from Fairfax Connector: Oscar Matamoros, Mario Llanos, Martin Lopez. They will now test their skills at the national competition in Portland, Ore., on April 26-30.


Virignia State Police: At  1 p.m., Sunday, April 14, Virginia State Police initiated a traffic stop on a Toyota Sienna traveling east on Interstate 66 at the 17-mile marker in Fauquier County. The traffic violation was for no state inspection.

The Toyota refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated. The Toyota continued into Prince William County, eventually crashing on eastbound Interstate 66 at the 45-mile marker. The Toyota’s driver, an adult male, was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.


Prince William police: On April 4, detectives arrested in connection to an unconscious man who had been dropped off at an area hospital on March 8 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

At one point during the encounter, the accused struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat, which rendered him unconscious. The victim was then dropped off at the hospital, where the police were contacted.


Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue press release: Earlier this morning, units were dispatched to the 13400 block of Princedale Drive for a report of a house fire. Crews arrived to find a fire in an attached garage; extinguishment quickly followed. Unfortunately, the structure sustained moderate damage and was posted unsafe to occupy by the building official.

The Red Cross responded and assisted three (3) adults and one (1) child who were displaced. There were no injuries reported. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire was accidental through the improper storage of oily rags.


Prince William County Public Schools press release: Local elected officials joined Prince William County School Board members and Superintendent of Schools Dr. LaTanya D. McDade in a ceremony to celebrate the construction of “Woodbridge Area” Elementary School. The state-of-the-art school is scheduled to open for the 2025-26 school year at the corner of Route 1 and Prince William Parkway, near Fred Lynn Middle School.

“One of the commitments in our PWCS Vision 2025 Launching Thriving Futures Strategic Plan is positive climate and culture. There is no doubt that equitable access to new, state-of-the-art facilities positively impacts a school’s climate and culture,” shared Dr. McDade. “Prince William County Public Schools is committed to providing safe and welcoming facilities for students, families, staff and the community, and this new facility is one example of this commitment. ”


The newest addition to Prince William County Public Schools held its groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday April 11. The ‘Woodbridge Area’ Elementary school sits next to Fred Lynn’s Middle School at 1550 Prince William Parkway, Woodbridge.

The ‘Woodbridge Area’ Elementary school was built to help with the overflow of students found at other Prince William County Elementary Schools. The school will serve 631 and have 3 different stories.


Virginia State Police press release): The Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Monday (April 8, 2024) at 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 northbound at the 151-mile marker.

A 1986 GMC pickup was driving northbound on I95 when the driver ran off the road left, struck the guardrail, overcorrected and then struck a 2023 Kia Telluride. The Telluride was also travelling north. The GMC pickup then rolled over twice.


Friends of the Occoquan press release: On a windy Saturday morning, 292 FOTO volunteers worked to intercept debris from the shores and water of the Occoquan River/Reservoir before it entered the Chesapeake Bay and ocean.

The Occoquan River is the source of drinking water for one million people in Northern Virginia. Equipped with gloves and trash grabbers, the volunteers collectively pulled out 2.8 tons of trash. Items collected were 272 bags of trash and five large 50 gals. drums, three gasoline cans, 15 pieces of wood with nails, 4 Styrofoam pieces, a lawn chair, two coolers, two gasoline cans, two hubcaps, and one large metal piece.
