Prince William Times: “A Manassas business owner and a Bealeton man pleaded guilty Friday to conspiring to defraud banks and the federal Small Business Administration of more than $7 million in COVID-19 relief funds – money that was used to invest in cryptocurrency, buy vehicles, make mortgage payments, fund home renovations, pay private high school and college tuition bills and buy items on Amazon, according to court documents.”
“Between April 2020 and March 2021, Bennie Earl Magee, 54, of Manassas, falsified payroll records, created fake IRS business tax returns and submitted falsified revenue reports for multiple companies to lenders and the SBA to obtain more than $7 million in Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans for himself and his friend and co-defendant Michael Gilcher, 45, of Bealeton, according to court documents.”
High school students from across the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region are invited to participate in Dialogue for Democracy at George Mason University!
Hosted by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, this event offers high school students an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about democracy, civic engagement, and the importance of understanding different perspectives.

The Center Square: “Sen. Tim Kaine is pressuring the U.S. Postal Service to address mail delivery issues plaguing some regions of Virginia. Kaine is pressing for answers regarding “persistent issues” with mail delivery across the commonwealth and how the postal service plans to fix them.”
“I am concerned that Virginia communities as far-flung as Smyth County in southwest Virginia, the Richmond area (nearly 300 miles away from Chilhowie by highway), and Arlington, across the river from Washington, D.C., are all experiencing missing bills, medications, tax documents, and days/weeks without mail,” said Kaine.”
Volunteers gathered in Manassas to help fix up three homes in the Bristoe Station neighborhood on Confederate Trail in Manassas.
Habitat for Humanity Prince William County: “Whiting-Turner Contracting of Herndon VA was on hand to kick-off of our neighborhood revitalization for the Bristoe Station Community! The goal of our revitalization initiative is to address city code violations for families in the community. With 51 homes being impacted, Whiting-Turner was able to sponsor our kickoff by addressing 3 homes that were in need of repairs.”
OmniRide: “The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the following proposed changes to OmniRide bus services.”
“Consolidation of the Lake Ridge-Washington DC (L100) and Lake Ridge-Pentagon-Crystal City (L200) commuter routes into one route. The consolidated route would serve the Pentagon Transit Center as well as all current L100 stops in downtown Washington. Extension of select Dale City-Pentagon (D200) trips into Crystal City to compensate for the Lake Ridge route consolidation. Introduction of new Eastern and Western Commuter Lot Connector trips to provide additional access to commuter lots during off peak times. Madelyn Pitts, 27, has been missing from her home in Woodbridge since April 24, 2023.
Prince William police told PLN she left home after an argument. She is now listed on the Black & Missing Foundation.
