A piece of rural land near the Prince William County Public Schools headquarters could be carved up and turned into new homes.

The county Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, to review a proposal to rezone 70 acres from A-1, Agricultural, to PMR, Planned Mixed Residential, and allow for the development of up to 210 residential units 219,000 square feet of commercial and office.

According to the National Weather Service, we’re in for a weekend washout. An area of low pressure will cross the region slowly from Friday through at least the first half of the weekend with clouds and plenty of rain, along with the chance of thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Police increased the reward for a suspect in a double shooting at a Prince William County school.

Investigators are still searching for Isaiah Malik Gordon, 23, of the 16000 block of Harwood Oaks Court in Woodbridge. He’s suspected of shooting two men, a 24-year-old and a 33-year-old, during a youth football game played on a field at Benton Middle School near Dale City on Sunday, May 1.

A Richmond man was killed during the construction of a new Amazon facility in Stafford County.

On May 4 at 3:44 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the site of an Amazon facility under construction at 220 Centreport Parkway, near the county airport. A Cat Haul Truck, an oversized off-road dump truck, had backed over the UTV, causing fatal injuries to the UTV driver.
