Stafford County Sheriff’s Office:CRIMINAL ACTIVITY: Car Legends, 3860 Richmond Highway, 8/13, 5:03 p.m. Stolen Sedan Spotted. Deputy J.L. Jones was traveling on Richmond Highway when he located a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Prince William County earlier in the day. Deputy Jones conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, who as it turns out, had a suspended driver’s license. He was detained as an officer from Prince William County responded to their location with warrants in hand for the driver. Custody of the driver was transferred to the Prince William officer, and the driver was issued a summons for driving without a driver’s license.”

DUI: 7-Eleven, 25 Solomon Drive, 8/13, 10:26 p.m. Drunk Driver Detained. Sergeant B.U. Demirci was traveling on Warrenton Road when he observed a vehicle make an improper lane change. Sergeant Demirci conducted a traffic stop, and made contact with the driver who had bloodshot eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Deputy C.J. Sacke responded to assist and observed the exact signs of intoxication. After conducting field sobriety tests, the driver was placed into handcuffs. He was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content between .15 and .2. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail until sober.”


Stafford County Sheriff’s Office:ASSAULT: Chatham Heights Road, 8/12, 11:00 a.m. Sticks and stones may attempt to break bones. Deputy J.A. Buzzard responded to an assault. The victim advised a verbal argument escalated when the suspect grabbed a nearby stick. The suspect began swinging the stick towards the victim in a more aggressive manner than just a simple swish and flick. A warrant for simple assault was obtained.”

DRUGS: Walmart, 11 Village Parkway, 8/11, 9:29 p.m. Deputy C.M. Sterne responded to a different kind of lost and found. The reporting party advised he located what he believed to be narcotics on the ground. Deputy Sterne collected the disregarded drugs and placed it into evidence.”

Churchill Downs Inc.: “Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) announced today a formal court order has been issued placing a pari-mutuel referendum on the Manassas Park ballot on November 7. The order follows a successful petition drive to gain signatures of at least 5% of the registered voters in the city asking that the matter be placed on this fall’s ballot.”

“Speaking about the strong local support for the petition effort and the upcoming election, CDI Chief Executive Officer Bill Carstanjen stated, “Churchill Downs is excited to have this opportunity to bring our iconic brand and this new entertainment opportunity to Manassas Park.”


Stafford County sheriff: “A Woodbridge man was jailed for numerous offenses after a traffic stop in South Stafford yesterday afternoon. On August 12th at 7:33 p.m. Sergeant B.U. Demirci observed a red Ford Taurus being operated with stolen license plates. Deputy B.M. Taylor responded to assist and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of White Oak Road and Town and Country Drive.”

“The 50-year-old driver had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was arrested. He was ultimately charged with possession of stolen property, DUI second offense in ten years, driving revoked, driving after forfeiture of license, refusal, obstruction of justice, improper display of license plates and open title on a vehicle. [Jihad Saboor, of Woodbridge] was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond.”


95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension (Fred Ex): “The 10-mile mainline between Garrisonville Road and Route 17 is anticipated to open southbound at 10 p.m. on Thursday, August 17. The Lanes will be ready for northbound traffic the following morning, August 18, per normal summer reversal schedule. Remaining access points along the project corridor are anticipated to open late 2023.”

The extension runs from Garrisonville Road (Route 610) in North Stafford to Route 17 (Warrenton Road) near Fredericksburg. At the Stafford County Courthouse, Gov. Glen Youngkin will open the new lanes during a ceremony on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.


I-95 Northbound and Southbound: Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) to Exit 133 (Route 17) Wednesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Bridge inspection. Overnight lane closures between the interchanges to allow crews to conduct routine safety inspection of Cowan Boulevard overpass.

I-95 Southbound: Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville) to Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) Monday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Single lane closure. Construction for 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension at mile markers 142–139.
