As Broadway comes to Caroline Street at the newly revitalized Fredericksburg Square, residents and visitors are in for a treat.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, the historic venue will host “Broadway on Caroline – Riverside Downtown,” promising a night of live performances, craft beer, and culinary delights.


The city’s Visitor’s Center and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism office are being relocated to modernize Fredericksburg’s tourism industry and make destinations accessible to all.

The new office, at 601 Caroline Street, is across from the current center and one block south. It is a more modern building with more of the infrastructure the city departments need.


The Kenmore Inn in Fredericksburg has undergone a change in ownership, with Newport News-based company Ironclad Distillery Co. acquiring the property for $2.4 million in late 2023.

Officials are exploring the possibility of building the bridge as an extension of Commerce Parkway, just off Route 17 in south Stafford County. The bridge would cross the Rappahannock River and could connect to Gordon Shelton Boulevard, near Virginia Credit Union Stadium, where the FredNats play.

The project aims to alleviate local street congestion by establishing a new connection between Fredericksburg and Stafford, upstream from existing bridges carrying Interstate 95 over the Rappahannock River.


On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is set to host a high-profile event at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on George Mason University’s SciTech Campus outside Manassas, featuring President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and second gentleman Douglas Emhoff.

This event is not affiliated with the university and is strictly invitation-only, states a university spokeswoman. Security measures will be robust to ensure the safety of attendees and dignitaries. The anticipated high-profile nature of the gathering is expected to result in significant traffic and parking disruptions on and around the SciTech Campus.


The ongoing process of formulating the Stafford County Schools Fiscal Year 2025 budget is progressing with a collaborative meeting between the School Board and the Board of Supervisors.

The joint session is set to take place at the school headquarters complex, located at 37 Stafford Avenue, near Route 1 and the county government center, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.


This year’s fair introduces the Polar Pals Fun Run for elementary students at 10:15 a.m., with a route around the high school. The Polar Crew welcomes participants at 10 a.m.; hot chocolate is available after the run. Registration is open for those eager to join.

Attendees can enjoy activities, including giveaways, school nutrition tastings, health screenings, life-saving technique demonstrations, and interactions with local organizations and businesses. The Fair emphasizes Stafford Schools’ eight wellness areas: Occupational, Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, Intellectual, Financial, and Environmental. The goal is to inspire healthy living, empower the community, and foster overall family wellness, according to the school division.


On Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., a disturbance unfolded at Brooke Point High School, located at 1700 Courthouse Road. Deputy D.J. Taylor, fulfilling his School Resource Officer (SRO) duties, responded to the commotion caused by two students engaged in a physical altercation.

Upon arrival, school staff assisted in separating the two students involved in the fight. Investigation revealed that student one had initiated the confrontation by approaching student two with the intention of starting a fight. As the victim tried to disengage from the situation, she became the target of an assault by the aggressor.
