Central Rappahannock Regional Library has received a $7,500 grant from the Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund of The Community Foundation to expand the Library of Things collection, it reports in a press release.

The Library of Things circulates items such as outdoor games, environmental tools, early childhood literacy packs, and craft kits and is a vital way for the public to have access to equipment that can otherwise be inaccessible due to cost.


Restriping of the Staffordboro Commuter lot in North Stafford is postponed to Saturday, March 30, due to the forecasted rainy weather on Saturday, March 23. The lot will be closed only for the weekend of March 30-31, weather permitting.

This work is part of a $900,000 maintenance project to resurface the Houser Drive Park and Ride lot in Spotsylvania County and refresh pavement markings at the Staffordboro Park and Ride lot in Stafford County.


Once a teenager singing Poison songs in 1986, Norman Voss now plays bass in Bret Michaels Band (BMB). The band has been nominated for the Country Music Television (CMT) Performance Award for a collaboration between BMB and Chris Janson.

Voss hails from Northern Virginia and lives in Fredericksburg. His Stormin’ Norman band formed in 1997 and traveled the Northern Virginia area for years playing popular songs from the 1960s to today.

The National Weather Service forecasts continued gusty winds and low relative humidity values persisting through Thursday in the mid-Atlantic region. This weather pattern is attributed to a strong low-pressure system over eastern Canada and expansive high pressure descending from the northern Plains.


Stafford residents will have a chance to weigh in on a proposed county government budget that would see the average homeowner pay $276 in Real Estate taxes next year, amounting to an average homeowner’s $3,866 Real Estate tax bill.

Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the budget at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the county government center, 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford.  You can also watch the meeting here.


The skateboard park at St. Clair Brooks Park must be replaced due to age and safety issues. The Board of Supervisors recognized the need to replace the skateboard park and approved Capital Improvement Funds (CIP).

We most recently reported on an effort to improve the skate park in February.


Stafford County’s Historical Commission could soon be a thing of the past.

The Board of Supervisors will dissolve the 32-year-old body at its meeting tomorrow, March 19, 2024. The public meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at the county government center, 1300 Courthouse Road.
