Prince William

Prince William County Government: “Prince William County is closer to constructing the one-mile segment of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail through the Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge in North Woodbridge, connecting the Rippon VRE station to Veteran Memorial Park.

“On Tuesday, the Board of County Supervisors authorized the transfer, budget and appropriation of $1.3 million from general-use proffer funding, $825,000 in Transient Occupancy Tax Fund [hotel taxes] (dedicated for transportation), and $500,000 from the COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act. The new funding will supplement a Federal Land Access Program grant already awarded to the county for the project.”

Fredericksburg Nationals: “The Nationals continued their winning ways thanks to a late home run to take down Charleston 2-1” on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

“Offense was at a premium in game two this week, as neither team scored until the top of the sixth inning. For the Riverdogs, Marcus Johnson got the start and was extremely effective. He spun six shutout innings, while allowing just a pair of base hits. Fredericksburg got four spotless innings from Bryan Sanchez and a scoreless fifth from Juan Abreu before Charleston got on the board.”

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “DUI: McDonalds, 545 Ferry Road, 6/6, 7:36 p.m. Deputies responded to a call of a reckless driver on Kings Highway. First Sergeant D.W. Fetterolf was able to locate the suspect vehicle, which was failing to maintain the lane of travel.

“First Sergeant Fetterolf conducted a traffic stop as Deputy M.A. Holub responded to assist. The vehicle had a smoke cloud within it, a strong odor of marijuana emanating from it, and the driver appeared under the influence. He was charged with driving under the influence, as well as, a traffic lane violation. He was held at Rappahannock Reginal Jail without bond.”

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “[Tuesday, June 6, 2023] at 4:23 p.m. Deputy C.C. Crossett responded to a call of a fraud. The victim advised she was contacted by both Federal Trade Commission and Drug Enforcement Administration agents. The fake federal agents advised the victim’s information was fraudulently used and she needed to put her money in cryptocurrency and send it to them. The victim did a little digging on the internet and found the name of one of the “agents” was involved in a similar scam. She immediately hung up and suffered no monetary loss.”

“Closer to home, at 3:39 p.m. Deputy X.D. Bates also responded to a call of a fraud, this time involving the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. The victim advised she received a call from someone posing as Lieutenant D.T. Diggs. The fake Lieutenant informed the victim she did not show up for jury duty in Alexandria, and she would be charged with contempt of court. The only way to avoid going to jail would be to send $2,000 through Zelle.”


Fairfax

Makya Little, 41, is running in a June 20 Primary Election to be the Democrat nominated by her party to run for the newly-created 19th District Virginia House of Delegates seat. The seat has no incumbent. Little has two Primary opponents, Natalie Shorter, and Rozia Henson.

The district leans strongly toward Democrats and includes a portion of Woodbridge in Prince William County and a portion of southern Fairfax County. Find your polling place.

“During the encounter, the man grabbed the boy without provocation. The victim was able to break free and run away from the man. The suspect then got back into the vehicle which was being driven by another masked man, and fled the area.”

“Suspect Descriptions: A black male, unknown age, with the number “2” tattooed on his neck. Last seen wearing a dark-colored ski-style mask and clothing. Vehicle Driver: A black male wearing a ski-style mask, a blue shirt, and black pants.”

Prince William fire and rescue: “Yesterday afternoon (3:06 PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2023), units were dispatched to the 15000 blk of Cloverdale Road [Dale City] for a report of a house fire.”

“Units arrived on the scene with heavy fire showing (see attached video) from the second floor.  Crews quickly controlled the fire. The fire was discovered by one of the adult occupants home at the time of the fire.”


Prince William

Prince William County Government: “During their meeting on Tuesday, June 6, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted to budget and appropriate funding for several transportation projects across Prince William County.”

University Boulevard Extension: The Board budgeted and allocated $40.7 million in state, regional and local funding to extend University Boulevard between Devlin and Wellington roads.”
