Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department: “On Wednesday, June 28th, the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office received an anonymous tip regarding the presence of possible illegal fireworks in the White Oak area of the county. On Thursday, June 29th, a Stafford County Deputy Fire Marshal went to the reported address in the 200 block of McCarty Road, and upon exiting his vehicle observed a large amount of what appeared to be illegal fireworks in plain view.

“The business did have an existing fire prevention code permit, which meant the business could be subject to inspection at any time. A subsequent inspection led to the seizure of a multitude of illegal fireworks with an estimated retail value of more than $600,000. The Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate, and charges are pending against the two individuals involved.”


Health

Rappahannock Women’s Health Center: “To our valued patients, It is with a heavy heart we have to announce the closing of RWHC. Please bear with us over the next few days as we will put out more information on how to obtain your records. This was not an easy decision, and we understand for some, this will be difficult. We will do everything we can to make this a smooth transition for all. We will be open through mid-August.”

The firm did not provide a reason for the closure. It provided OB-GYN care for women at two locations, 1071 Care Way, Suite 101, in Fredericksburg, and 9701 Hospital Blvd, Suite 101, in Spotsylvania.


Prince William

Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department: “Townhouse Fire, Thursday June 29, 2023, 11:17 PM.”

“Units were dispatched to the 7500 block of Bedford Road (Sudley) last evening for a townhouse fire reported by the occupants. Crews arrived on the scene with a working basement fire, and all occupants evacuated from the home. The fire was located in the basement and quickly extinguished. The home did sustain significant damage. No injuries were reported. The Building Official declared the structure was unsafe to occupy, displacing six (6) adults and two (2) children. Red Cross was on the scene to assist. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire originated in the basement utility room ignited by improper use of an extension cord.”

Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a conservative radio and TV host with over 3 million listeners, came to Woodbridge to stump for Mike Van Meter, who was running for State Senate in District 33 against Jennifer Carroll Foy,  vying to return to the Virginia Capitol.

Gorka said Van Meter is running in the strongly-leaning Democrat district, which includes portions part of southern Fairfax County, and Woodbridge Prince William County, in hopes to counteract ideological changes ushered in under Democrats, who controlled the House, Senate, and Governor’s office until 2021.

“The law requires pornography websites to use age verification technology to more stringently determine whether a person is 18 or older to gain access to the site. The legislation passed the General Assembly on a nearly unanimous vote this March. Sen. Bill Stanley, R-Franklin, the patron of the bill, told the Mercury this March his legislation aims to address the “epidemic” of childhood exposure to pornography.”
