OmniRide: “OmniRide will be adding Saturday Service to its list of mobility services starting August 26, 2023. Saturday service will include Local Manassas North (65N), Local Manassas to Manassas Park (67), OmniRide Connect microtransit in Manassas / Manassas Park, and OmniRide Access paratransit in Manassas / Manassas Park. It even includes the East-West Express (96) route that travels between Manassas and Woodbridge! Saturday timetables have been added to the new schedule brochures and they will be available from bus operators and online beginning Aug. 14.”

The Center Square: “Virginia’s long-awaited Interstate 95 express lanes were ceremonially opened during a ribbon-cutting led by political and transportation leaders, including Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Sen. Tim Kaine, who touted the project as a time-saver and economic boost to the region.”

“The 10 miles of new lanes, privately funded through Transurban in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation, will complete the stretch through Stafford County – notorious for being one of the nation’s worst spots for traffic congestion. Ground was broken in 2019. The new lanes in the major corridor serving north-south travelers between Maine and Florida are estimated to reduce commuting time between Fredericksburg and Washington by 35 minutes.”

Manassas police: “Pedestrian Struck by Train — On August 18, 2023, at 10:54 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to the area of the train crossing on West Street. When officers arrived, they located a 25-year-old male on the train tracks. Rescue was summoned and declared the male deceased. The initial investigation located several witnesses that said that the male subject attempted to jump onto a moving train and fell under it. The investigation is active and ongoing.”

Stafford County Economic Development Department: “The Stafford County Economic Development Authority (EDA) closed on their largest loan to date on July 19, 2023 to Next Level Mosaic, LLC. The loan in the amount of $151,000 was through the EDA’s Business Growth Fund Program, which is used to bridge the gap between the business’s available funding and total startup costs. Next Level Mosaic will be using the loan to construct four (4) greenhouses, buy hydroponic growing equipment, and provide operational working capital. “

Insidenova.com: “Prince William County Schools are rejecting the Virginia Department of Education’s new model policies on transgender students, saying its current policies are aligned with the Virginia Values Act’s prohibition on sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals’ decision in Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board, which mandated that students have access to school facilities corresponding with their gender identity.”

“With Thursday’s announcement, Prince William County Schools joined several other Northern Virginia school divisions in its rejection of the updated VDOE policies. School systems in Fairfax, Alexandria and Arlington have said they won’t be updating their division-level policies to conform with VDOE’s guidance.”

Manassas police: “Speed enforcement cameras have been successfully installed outside Round Elementary School on Hastings Drive and Metz Middle School on Wellington Road. The cameras will be active during a thirty-minute period prior to the start of school and at dismissal.”
