The commuter railway operations board voted today to continue the free fares, an extension of the free fare program it provided riders last month on its Fredericksburg and Manassas lines.

The railroad will again charge the full fare for those who board at stations south of Springfield. In July, VRE decided it would let all riders take its trains free while Metro closes its Blue and Yellow lines south of Reagan National Airport for rehabilitation work.

Crews working to build E-ZPass Express Lanes are preparing to close the ramps at Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road. As early as Monday, October 24, the ramps to I-66 East from Monument Drive and Stringfellow Road will close.

The Quartz District and the Whole Foods grocery store to anchor the mixed-use development — a first for Prince William County — comes before the Board of County Supervisors tonight.

Two developers, SKW VA, Inc. and Southern Knolls, LLC, seek approval to rezone 145 acres at Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road in Woodbridge. It plans to build 1,000 new homes, commercial retail and office space, a pavilion, and new parks and walking paths.
