Fredericksburg will open the city's first smart park this weekend.

The park features views of the Rappahannock River, has an event space, and a play area

While it opened for public use last fall, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held for the aptly-named Riverfront Park on Saturday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m.

Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 20. Once again, it is being organized at the regional level by Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association.

The annual event is intended to increase awareness and participation in bicycling as a method of transportation to work instead of driving alone.

The first 15,000 to register for Bike to Work Day and stop at one of the many pit stops in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, will receive a free T-shirt and refreshments.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced today that Virongy Biosciences Inc., a developer of viral diagnostic technologies, anti-viral drugs, and therapeutic viral vectors, will invest $471,000 to expand in Prince William County.

The company recently relocated to occupy over 2,000 square feet of the Northern Virginia Bioscience Center, where it will begin to develop new diagnostic technologies to M and quantify SARS-CoV-2, like the COVID-19 coronavirus, variants and other viral pathogens.

The expansion project will create up to 70 new jobs.

The plan to transform the quiet harborside neighborhood at the Potomac and Occoquan rivers into a mixed-use district has met with outcry from residents. According to company spokesman Jay Sotos, the firm submitted revised plans to the Prince William County Government for the proposed redevelopment.
