Prince William County: “More than 200 members of the community gathered Tuesday evening, Jan. 2, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center to witness the swearing-in ceremony for the Board of County Supervisors and the county’s constitutional officers.”

“The ceremony started with the presentation of colors by the county’s Joint Public Safety Honor Guard and the singing of the National Anthem by Karen-Leigh Albert. The new and returning officials then took their oaths of office with friends and family joining them on the stage.”

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative: “Applications are being accepted through Feb. 16 for the 2024 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, an annual all-expenses-paid, week-long event in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).”

Prince William County: “Prince William County residents with curbside yard waste collection can set their Christmas trees and other holiday greenery at the curb for collection during the first two weeks of January.”

“Be sure to remove all ornaments, decorations, tinsel, nails, and the tree stand and set the empty tree and greenery at the curb for pickup as a part of yard waste collection by your waste and recycling collection service provider. The trees and greenery are processed at the Compost Facility into compost and mulch.”

Prince William Police Department: Suspicious Incident – On December 18 at 12:34 p.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Colgan High School located at 13833 Dumfries Road in Manassas was notified of inappropriate drawings and writings found in a bathroom. The investigation revealed earlier that morning, school security personnel entered a male bathroom where they encountered students who found multiple pieces of toilet paper with derogatory/offensive language and inappropriate images written on them. The SRO and school personnel determined none of the observed writings appeared to contain any threats of harm towards students, staff, or other school personnel. A search was conducted, and no additional writings were located.”

University of Mary Washington: “The COAR (Community Outreach and Resources) staff – and the entire UMW community – spent months filling gift-wrapped shoeboxes with winter hats, school supplies and toys for preschool students.”

“The annual effort produced more than 300 packages specifically for youngsters in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County schools, including students in the Head Start Program, which provides education and resources for eligible children ages 3 to 5.”

Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On November 17 at 1:45 p.m., officers responded to the Home Depot located at 7486 Stream Walk Lane in Manassas to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed the accused was observed by store security placing items into a shopping cart and then pushing the cart with the unpaid items towards the rear doors of the business. As the accused reached the rear doors, store security personnel confronted the accused who then implied he had a knife and threatened the 35-year-old male employee. The accused then walked out to the parking lot and fled the area in a vehicle. No injuries were reported. While investigating the robbery, officers identified the accused as Cedric Murrel MILTON, and obtained warrants for his arrest. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.”

Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle | Attempted Malicious Wounding *ARREST – On December 10, the suspect sought in connection to the shooting that was reported to have occurred in the area of Coloriver Road and Goodland Court in Manassas on May 15, was arrested. The accused, identified as Elmer Eduardo PINEDA SALGUERO, was taken into custody without incident. Arrested on December 10: Elmer Eduardo PINEDA SALGUERO, 22, of 10188 Wilmington Street in Manassas. Charged with 1 count of shooting into an occupied vehicle, 1 count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and 2 counts of attempted malicious wounding. Court Date: Pending | Bond: Unavailable.”

Shooting Investigation *SUSPECT IDENTIFIED [Previously Released] – Officers identified a suspect sought in connection to the shooting that was reported to have occurred in the area of Coloriver Road and Goodland Court in Manassas on May 15. The investigation revealed one of the victims was involved in an altercation earlier in the day with an acquaintance before the parties dispersed. Later that day, while driving in the above area, the victims observed the suspect vehicle approach them at a high rate of speed before an occupant fired a round, striking the victim’s vehicle. No injuries or additional property damage were reported. Officers determined the shooter was known to the acquaintance previously involved in the altercation with the victim. On August 23, following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the suspect, identified as Elmer Eduardo PINEDA SALGUERO. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.”
