Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 in Prince William County.

The crash happened at 7:20 a.m. on December 27, 2025, in the southbound lanes near the 150-mile marker. According to police, a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck veered off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. Additional work continues in Stafford County on Route 1 at Telegraph Road and Woodstock Lane, where crews are realigning the intersection, adding turn lanes, installing new traffic signals, and placing a concrete median to restrict turning movements. Separate construction is also underway at the Route 1 and Courthouse Road intersection to widen the highway to four lanes with a concrete median, add sidewalks and crosswalks, and improve access at Bells Hill Road and Hope Road. These locally administered projects are expected to be completed between fall 2026 and summer 2027.

Rock Hill Church Road is back open to traffic ahead of schedule after crews completed tree removal work at Aquia Creek in Stafford County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced the reopening at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19. The road had been scheduled to remain closed through Monday, December 22, as part of preparations for a bridge replacement project set to begin in summer 2026.

“VDOT’s free mobile 511 app offers information about construction, traffic, incidents and congestion as well as access to traffic cameras, weather, electric vehicle charging stations and more,” VDOT stated.

The lane-closure pause is intended to reduce congestion during peak holiday travel periods across the Commonwealth. VDOT is encouraging drivers to plan ahead using its 511 travel tools, which include real-time traffic updates, holiday travel trend maps, and hands-free phone alerts. Motorists in Northern Virginia can also check express lane schedules online, while travelers in Hampton Roads are advised to consider alternate routes due to ongoing tunnel construction and extended delays expected at the Route 17 George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge during bridge openings.

A Dale City resident who regularly bikes along Minnieville Road noticed a visible sign of change this week: a new traffic signal going up along the busy corridor.

“Took these pictures today at about 1–2 p.m. on my bike ride on Minnieville Road. Maybe newsworthy,” wrote Kevin Parker, who stopped to photograph construction crews erecting the signal. “If so, I would be happy to see you use one or more of them.”

“Impaired driving is both reckless and preventable,” Prince William County Police Department stated. “Drivers break the law by driving impaired, putting thousands of travelers at risk every day.”

“No excuses and no warnings. If drivers are caught driving impaired, they will be arrested,” the department added. “Remember, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!”

“Light snow showers could cause slippery road conditions in the Fredericksburg area, Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula over the weekend,” Virginia Department of Transportation announced. “Less than one inch of snow accumulation is forecast for most of the Fredericksburg area, with a potential for 1-2 inches of snow in northern Stafford County.”

“On Sunday afternoon and evening, gusting winds of 25-35 mph are forecast, which could lead to downed trees, tree limbs, and debris in the road,” the agency stated. “VDOT crews will mobilize in 24-hour emergency operations between late Saturday and early Sunday morning, depending on the arrival time for inclement weather in each region.”
