OmniRide aims to spend $12.5 million on 19 new buses on multiple routes in the commuter bus system.

The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission, OmniRide’s governing board, will meet tonight at 7 p.m. to consider the purchase. You can watch the meeting here, or attend the meeting in person at the OmniRideTransit Center, at 14700 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge.


Crews lift and install bridge beams over the highway for future access points to the I-95 E-ZPass Express Lanes in Stafford County.

A portion of the highway near Route 17 will close for work. A detour will direct drivers to exit I-95 south at Exit 136/Centreport Parkway to Route 1 south, Route 17, and back to I-95 south.

A 43-year-old pedestrian died this morning after he was struck on Route 1.

At 3:04 a.m., police went to the area of Route 1 and Cardinal Dr in Woodbridge to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. They found the driver of a 2011 Infinity G37X was traveling north on Route 1 toward Cardinal Drive struck a pedestrian in a lane, outside a crosswalk, in a dimly lit area of the street, police said.

Extending Metrorail to Prince William County will be the focus of a virtual meeting tonight.

The Prince William Conservation Alliance will host an online discussion about the possibility of extending the heavy-rail system, which ferries passengers in and out of Washington, D.C., south from Springfield to Woodbridge.


On February 25 at 4:39 a.m., officers responded to the area of the Prince William Pkwy and Dumfries Rd in Manassas (20112) to investigate a two-vehicle crash.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2003 Toyota Sienna was traveling north on the Prince William Parkway approaching Dumfries Road when the driver disregarded a red traffic signal and struck a 2018 Chevrolet Express van attempting to turn left onto the parkway from Dumfries Road.


A county sheriff’s spokesman tells us:

On February 24th at 1:25 p.m. Deputy M.L. Jacobeen responded to a crash at 432 Garrisonville Road. He arrived to find a silver Nissan Altima had crashed into an unoccupied red Ford Mustang in the business parking lot, pushing the Mustang into Nara Thai Cuisine. Fortunately, there were no injuries inside the restaurant.
