Republicans Pick LaCroix, Democrats Set Caucus

Prince William Republicans and Democrats are moving forward with plans to select their candidates for the upcoming Woodbridge District Supervisor special election, scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

At a Feb. 2 special meeting, the Prince William County Republican Committee unanimously selected Jennie LaCroix as its nominee. LaCroix, a longtime Woodbridge resident and local business professional, previously ran for the Board of County Supervisors and was chosen to represent Republicans in the race to replace former Supervisor Margaret Franklin.

New indoor play venues planned at Potomac Mills

Two new indoor entertainment venues are coming to Potomac Mills, adding more options for families with children, according to a press release from the shopping center. Slick City Action Park and Kids Jungle Playground are both planned for Neighborhood 5 at the Woodbridge mall, though opening dates were not announced.

Slick City Action Park will be the first East Coast location for the fast-growing national chain. The waterless indoor action park is expected to feature multi-lane dry slides, air courts, a Junior Jungle area for toddlers, and party rooms. Mall officials say the attraction is designed for a wide range of ages and offers a high-energy alternative to traditional trampoline parks. It is planned near Visionworks.

Prince William schools serve nearly 2,000 free meal kits to support families in need

Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) distributed 1,925 free meal kits on Thursday to support families in need. The effort was part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program, which allows school divisions to provide meals to children at no cost.

Meal kits were available to all children up to age 18, regardless of enrollment in PWCS. Each kit included two breakfasts, lunches, suppers, and snacks. The meals were distributed at three middle schools: Fred Lynn in Woodbridge (708 kits), Hampton in Woodbridge (571 kits), and Unity Braxton in Manassas (646 kits).

Prince William County police investigated two separate incidents involving gunfire into homes on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day—fortunately, no injuries were reported in either case.

In Woodbridge, around 5:16 a.m. on January 1, a bullet shattered a glass door at the Dale Forest Apartments on Wabash Place. Two shell casings were found nearby. The day before, near Manassas, a bullet entered a home on Lucasville Road around 3:26 p.m. No injuries were reported in either incident, and both cases are under investigation as reckless handling of a firearm.
