Salvation Army Relocates to Woodbridge Shopping Center

The Salvation Army has successfully relocated its thrift store from its former site in Gordon Plaza to a prominent new space at Woodbridge Shopping Center, strengthening its presence in the community.

The new location spans 19,000 square feet and occupies a highly visible corner position at the intersection of Route 1 and Occoquan Road—only two blocks from the previous Gordon Plaza address.

This move comes in response to the closure and demolition of Gordon Plaza, which is part of a larger redevelopment project that will bring a new Home Depot to the area, with completion anticipated in 2027. By relocating nearby, the Salvation Army maintains continuity for its customers while transitioning to an upgraded retail environment.

Woodbridge Shopping Center is co-anchored by established retailers, including CVS and Dixie Bones BBQ.

As a nonprofit organization, the Salvation Army specializes in thrift retail operations, where proceeds from sales fund a wide range of social services, including assistance for families, disaster relief, youth programs, and more. Thrifting has seen growing popularity in recent years, appealing to shoppers across generations seeking sustainable and budget-friendly options.

“We’re excited to represent the landlord in this transaction,” said George Boosalis of Boosalis Properties. “Salvation Army is a strong anchor and an excellent co-anchor for CVS. It will drive traffic to the shopping center, benefit co-tenants, and serve the surrounding community.”
