The Virginia State Supreme Court heard arguments in the case of five Prince William Board of Supervisors accused of violating the state’s open meetings laws in the hours after unprecedented riots. 

Richmond attorney Patrick McSweeny argued for county residents Alan Gloss and Carol Fox. Both allege the five Democrats on the Board of County Supervisors violated the law when they attended a meeting of the county police department’s Citizen Advisory Board, which hastily gathered at noon on May 30, 2020.

Police tell us the shooting in Dale City we first told you about Monday afternoon happened during a home invasion.

On October 31 at 1:44 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 13400 block of Orangewood Drive in Dale City to investigate a shooting. Upon arriving, officers found a 51-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body and provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived.

On October 27 at 7:34 a.m., Prince William County police responded to the Our Lady of Angels Church at 13752 Marys Way in Woodbridge to investigate a burglary.

The investigation revealed several sheds and a trailer belonging to the church were burglarized sometime between 3 p.m. on October 26 and 7 a.m. on October 27. The investigation revealed entry was made into the trailer through the window, which was found damaged.

Prince William County Supervisor Chair-At large Ann Wheeler, one of the county’s five top elected leaders who finds herself at the center of a Virginia State Supreme Court case tomorrow, made comments about the upcoming proceedings on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.

Potomac Local News has obtained an email in which Wheeler calls the lawsuit against her and her fellow Democrats on the Board of County Supervisors “frivolous” and “politically motivated.” It’s the first time Potomac Local News has seen a comment about this case from any of the elected defendants, despite seeking comments multiple times.

Police said the victim was walking near an on-ramp from Interstate 95 to Route 234 when he was struck by the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Sonota exiting the highway. The 27-year-old driver from Stafford County was attempting to merge onto Route 234 when he struck the pedestrian, and he stayed at the crash scene following the collision.

Rescue crews took the victim, 31-year-old Jamel Terrell Tanner,  to an area hospital, where he died. Police said Tanner was wearing dark clothing when the driver struck him.

Police charged two 14-year-old boys with possession of a gun on school property at Unity Reed High School, 8820 Rixlew Lane near Manassas, formerly Stonewall Jackson Senior High School.

Investigators say the boys exchanged a gun on school grounds on Saturday, October 26.

A Dunkin Donuts employee was shot multiple times early Friday during a robbery.

The victim was working at the doughnut store at 2201 Old Bridge Road at Tacketts Mill in Lake Ridge when two masked men smashed through a window about 3:30 a.m., held the man at gunpoint, took cash from registers, and then shot him multiple times before fleeing.

An 18-year-old man lost his life in a shooting Thursday night in Woodbridge.

We first reported the shooting, one of two in the area) late Thursday evening. Police said the victim was shot and killed on Route 1 near Todos Supermarket and Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church at 10:24 p.m.
